For all of you who purchased a 2024 4Runner, did anyone else receive a text from your Toyota dealership offering "same payment for a '25 4Runner/ we're having a big sale" spiel?

Nope. But every time I'm in for service I get a text wanting to buy my Gen 5's.

Of course... the 5th gen is crazy in demand right now so why wouldn't they try to flip you into a new one?

We just bought my wife a car and every dealer was trying to get my 4Runner...like, ran the numbers on it without me asking and tried to bring it into the deal trying. I was offered what I paid from two of them.

Offer me what I paid for my 2020 and it is theirs. If I can drive a car for 5 years for $0.00, I'm pretty happy with that.

Same thing for me in CA. back in 2017. They said, please trade in your '16 on our new '18 line bs.
I once showed up in my Jeep TJ and of coarse hey asked me if I wanted to trade it in on a LC.
I told them that I'd sell it for 100K and they baulked, imagine that. I also let them know that the last and best TLC was the FJ-40 and that any Cruiser that has 4 doors wasn't going to be taken seriously by me.
Then I retired and moved to a different State.

No but I haven’t been to a dealer for service ever, even back to my ‘21. Bought my ‘24 in San Antonio.

If any car can do it the 4R can, but the dollar did lose 23% of its value since 2020.

It's a common dealer tactic, similar line as those "you car is in high demand, come in and we will buy it" letters, to get you to go and upsell you on a new car and associated F&I products.

I can't imagine them actually having problems moving 25 4runners with so many people saying they were holding off buying until a new gen with new power-train and tech is here.

Only time mine was at the dealer was for the fuel pump TSB and I hadn't even gotten home (10 min) before they were on the horn with their spiel...and they didn't even have my truck details right.

When I got the call it was for my Black Nightshade. Really close to what I had. AT the time they had my mileage to with 250 miles.

Figured it's a sales ploy, especially since my local dealership has zero inventory on the 2025's. Actually, I take that back - they have one at the dealership and two showing "in production."

No, but when I took my 2020 Tacoma in for a simple oil change, I walked out with a 2023 4Runner haha.

Sales tactic. You can buy a brand new vehicle and then pull into the lot 2 weeks later and they hound you like vultures. I stopped in to get oil filters last week and a 20 yr old vulture was at my driver's door before I even finished backing into the spot.

At what price point would you sell it? I have a 2024 TRd ORP and I wouldn’t even take what I bought it for as it is worth more to me to keep it (no interest in the 6th gen… maybe land cruiser) Maybe if someone wanted to pay double :D. Mine has 5900 miles on it, bought last April

I got a letter maybe a year after purchasing both of my Toyotas. It's just a money grab.

Most buyers were not paying cash for 45k-50k ORPs a few years ago, they sure the heck are not paying cash now for 60k ORPs.

For those who plan on living in their 4Runner, that 20-year loan can be their mortgage.

For me, probably anything north of what I paid for it. I have no interest in selling it but as I stated in my post, if I can drive a car for 5 years for $0.00 i'm taking that. That said, the 4Runner is not my only vehicle and sits in the driveway the vast majority of the time so I would not have to, immediately, turn around and buy something else.

So, anyone want a pretty much stock Silver 2020 ORP with 42K mostly highway on it for $41K ? :)

I have not. I wouldn’t bite anyway because I intentionally bought a 5th gen rather than wait for a 6th.

Standard dealer sales promotion tactic for over 30 years. Has nothing to do with perceived 5th gen popularity.

Probably more to do with the UN-availability of the 2025 4Runner.

Just sold my 22 Limited with 30k miles for 43k to the local Toyota dealer. They put it on the lot for 49k and it sold the 1st day.

Got recall work done on a several year-old family CR-V and the dealer called on the drive home and got out something about a quote on its value before I hang up.

Too poor to buy anything now
Sure they will. They just add some years to your loan.
Of course I don't have a payment so are they gonna even swap with me?
