    Hello,
I have a 2013 4runner that we purchased new. It has been great for us through the years. Last summer on a hot sunny day, I stated it up and it started beeping. There was no warning lights or messages. It still drove fine. Been searching ever since to find what causes it. It doesn't happen all the time, but when it does, everything pertaining to the radio quits working (No radio or back up camera). I think I have figured out that it has something to do with high temperature on the dash. It never does it in the morning, but if it is parked in direct sunlight with temps above 75 it will beep. Also, If you drive it for 10 minutes with no beeping and then shut it off to go in a store and return a few minutes later and restart it, it will start beeping again regardless of the outside temperature. The only way I have figured out to stop it is to remove the AMP fuse under the hood. When everything is cooled of the fuse can be replaced and it works properly. This is so annoying. Has anyone had this issue or know what may cause this?
    Thanks for your help.

I had a random mystery beep in my 2019 that was caused by the rear hatch not being fully closed.

Thanks for the reply. I tried opening and shutting the hatch many times while the beeping is occurring and it doesn't stop the beeping.

    Oooh look, another mod.....

Try disconnecting the battery over night (or for a few hours), this will reset the computer and potentially resolve the issue. The issue may be with the radio/head unit. Try to factory reset it.

Thanks Borracho Logo. I tried both resets and neither worked. I did figure out that I can make it start beeping simply by powering the radio/head unit off and immediately powering it back on. I did all this without starting the engine. I think the beeping is the sound it makes when trying to connect to bluetooth however the bluetooth is turned off on the unit.

Maybe it's time to upgrade to a new unit with a bigger screen. If mine didn't have the JBL I would definitely swap mine out.

Welcome Tim! Are you leaking any fluids? Have you check your brake fluid? Since it may be the AMP, check the battery & alternator too. Isn't the AMP fuse like $20 bucks? Id replace that and see what happens. Check the SD card, maybe in your glove box? Sometimes they can go bad

    Thanks kolter45,
I don't have any leaks and the brake fluid is good. I wasn't aware that there was a beep for low brake fluid. The Amp fuse is for the audio head unit and it is a 30 amp mini fuse probably less than a dollar, but it is good.

You check your SD card? I heard that can cause beeping too if it’s bad

    ^^ This.

All signs are pointing to the head unit. It is either:

    1) A bad SD card.
    2) Outdated software/firmware on the existing SD card (you can find updates online or a replacement card).
    3) A bad/faulty head unit. It may be time to consider replacing it.

Thanks. I have not been able to find an sd card. From what I have found online, I don’t think my 4Runner has one. Probably going to replace the head unit. Does anyone have any recommendations for a replacement head unit? Don’t need anything fancy. We only use the radio and factory backup camera.

I believe your SD card is in your glove box area

okay i believe this is your answer here. You maybe don't have an SD slot & it will be updated via USB from the dealer maybe :notsure: I looked on ebay but no luck finding anything. This post says its $160 bucks & at that price I'd replace the HU anyways

Tim, this is the unit I purchased and installed myself in my 2015 SR5 Premium.

This one costs a little extra vs buying directly from Crutchfield, but comes with correct harness pre-installed, and they have excellent videos showing how to install. I normally wouldn't even consider doing something like this myself, but their videos gave me the confidence, and it went great.

This has suddenly started happening with my Husband's 2016 F150. His passenger door handled broke due to cold weather while up in NY, so he has the door rigged up with a wire hanger to keep it closed. For the last week or so, the alarm will randomly start going off. Having it looked at this Friday.

The only time my truck makes a beeping (roughly 2/sec) sound after I start or leave the engine running is when I step out of the vehicle...I wonder if your instance is an issue with the key fob proximity sensor system?

    Same thing happens to me.

It only beeps at me when I leave it running and step out of the vehicle. EXAMPLE: On Saturday morning's I will drop off my clothes at my local dry cleaners. I pull into the parking spot (right in front), put it in park and hop out to drop off my stuff. I leave the truck running and I immediately hear it BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP. It goes away after 5 - 10 seconds. But it happens every time I do that.
