Okay, I’m paralyzed by indecision!

 

I'm a big Islay fan too. Kilchoman Sanaig, a fairly new distillery there, is one of my current favorites!

 

The great Jimmy Buffett once said, "Indecision may or may not be my problem!"

Is it too early for day drinking?

 

Yeah, Those Glencairn glasses have become my favorite Scotch tasting glasses. We have group of 4 guys that meet once a month to try a couple new Scotches and everyone uses those, or something very, very similar.

 

Never too early to day drink, I usually start at 12am

 

Nice one - it's good to have friends with common interests. My brother-in-law bought my glasses after I told him how much I liked his. He's a big bourbon collector

question for the seasoned tequila drinkers.
I’m going to my Cabo timeshare next week, gunna buy liquor at airport duty free in Canada and Mexico.
not a tequila snob or connoisseur lol just want a couple decent inexpensive bottles, obviously not Cuervo.

G4 is priced pretty reasonable and very good, IMO.

Fortaleza is generally a little more expensive, but really fantastic. If I'm not mistaken, it is actually called Los Abuelos in Mexico, but the name is different in the US market due to a trademark conflict with Ron Abuelo rum.

Tequila Ocho is another good one. I hear El Tosoro is good but haven't tried that yet.

I'm sure @SlvrSlug and @Agent_Outside will have some other good recommendations.

 

I have no recommendations for Duty Free, I’ve never seen a bottle I’d buy there.

No need to get butt hurt about it. Every Duty Free free I’ve seen carries bottom of the barrel mass produced readily available bulk tequilas. They aren’t good so I don’t recommend them.

 

I ain’t butthurt as the kids, and you, say. Lighten up man, ur kinda being a snob. Budweiser is readily available, will you even drink a damn domestic average beer

Maybe the best take away here is that duty free stores don't generally carry anything special, so maybe it's not worth the trip.

I'm all in favor of getting a good price on booze (and anything, really), but, I wouldn't buy shitty booze just because it’s cheap.

 

As I've told my workmates often: "We all work too hard to drink bad booze."

 

It's like the quote I've seen: "life is too short to drink cheap beer." This is my basic philosophy now. But, as a younger person...

I do think cheap booze has its place. In my case, it helped me learn to pace myself when I was young and looking for a cheap buzz. I learned that drinking cheap booze also seems to lead to the worst hangovers.

If anyone can't understand the concept of drinking the cheapest booze just to get drunk, even in spite of knowing the hangover that was in store, I will assume you did not grow up in the Midwest (and definitely not Wisconsin).

There’s absolutely good enough booze for me at duty free liquor stores.

 

The duty free stores, only available when crossing a border, offers Canadians a significantly cheaper price across the board, otherwise unattainable.

 

Visiting Mexico for work a couple of years ago, I put away a respectable amount of a tequila called Maestro Dobel. I'm no expert, but I thought it was really good -- not much burn, plenty of kick.

I had gotten away from tequila for a good long time, but that one was good enough that I bought a bottle when I got back to the States. I should have bought it in MX, for it would have been about 15% the price.
