    Hello all 4Runners,

I just bought my first (and maybe my last) 4Runner in New Brunswick, Canada, but I live in Ontario, Canada. I looked all across Canada for one that would satisfy my criteria: a TRD Off Road (minimum), relatively young (in years), relatively low mileage (less than 40,000 kms/~25,000 miles), and relatively decent price. As you all know, this was not an easy task. After much searching and missing one good deal in Alberta, Canada (where 45 others lined up and beat me by a day) I finally found a Toyota-Certified Pre-Owned 2023 4Runner TRD Off Road in Nautical Blue Metallic with only 23,888 kms (14,843 miles) on it . So, I quickly called the dealer and the first thing they said was that it was agressively priced and should be priced higher, but that they subscribe to volume sales and to happy customers, so I did not argue, sent them a $500 deposit.

A few days later, I was flying (~$400 CDN) from Toronto to Moncton, NB. The dealer (Bathurst Toyota) sent a shuttle driver to pick me up for the reamaining 2.5 hours drive north to Bathurst, NB. When I asked for a hotel recommendation, the dealer said they would get back to me. Well, they surprised me in a response emails saying that they had already reserved a room at the Best Western and that they were picking up the tab. The next morning, the picked me up at the hotel and took me to the nearby dealer.... the 4Runner looked brand spanking new, unbelievable! I guess the original owner was a "rubber" as they put it (in french), meaning all he ever did was clean and polish it, never taking it on a gravel road, and traded it in for a Tundra (he decided he needed something bigger)... my gain!!!

Anyway, I paid the balance and off I went driving through the soft hilly forests of northern N.B. and the the rotten roads of Québec (only to end up with a stone chip in my windshield, which I was able to have fixed immediately thanks to the help of the Bathurst Toyota manager who found me a reputable outfit in Rivière-du-Loup, Québec). Anyway, then it was snow, slush, rain, etc.... all the way back home to south-western Ontario, a total 2-day journey of 1,494 kms/928 miles). I am absolutely in love with this truck. Oh, and by the way, the sales manager had joked about how this truck would now be "Christened"... I happen to be a consultant in the forestry and mining sectors... so it should get a workout.

    Cheers!

    Bushman

P.S. I may want to gently mod it to make it a little more capable off road, but only if necessary, so I may be looking for your advice.

Just in case you would like to see it...

Nice truck and welcome from Detroit! I wish my 23 ORP came with dual zone temp, auto lamps and start like they come equipped in Ontario.

Welcome, and congratulations on your new ride, she's a beauty! Given your line of work, you may want to consider skid plates, sliders and tires, all easy mods that are functional and will enhance the look of your rig. I spend a lot of time in Nova Scotia with my 4Runner, it's the perfect vehicle from city streets to remote fishing spots.

Congrats!! That's a great color, and sounds like a great find. You're going to enjoy it.

190k miles on my 2013 and only a few minor issues in the 110,000 miles I've owned it.

Well, you're most welcome. I have toured the Toyota plant in Cambridge, Ontario, and some of my pals worked there. I can't recall for sure if the Corolla was built there, but I do think so. Very impressive plant. Kaizen!

    You are welcome!

It seems that the fourth generation Camaro was built in Saint Thérese, Québec, Canada until its hiatus. When it returned in 2009, the fifth-generation Camaro was built at the Oshawa Car Assembly plant in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. Then, in 2015 Chevy Camaro assembly was returned to the US, at the Lansing, Michigan, plant. Does this jive with what you know?

As mentioned in posts above, I too suggest AT tires and perhaps rock rails to protect rocker panels (I have factory) or full sliders which stick out to protect body and doors plus rocker panels.
Beautiful rig I hope you have many years of fun driving.
