Wasn't implying we need tires that big. Just wondering what we can learn.

that you’ll be breaking out a sawzall to fit them in unless you add portals then maybe just pinch weld bashing (and BMC and removal of wheel well liners and…)

EDIT- I think the OP is asking what we can take away from this vid, and put to use for our goals. Not fitting 37's on a 4runner.

A lot actually. He has vids regarding misconceptions with the prado/4runner/Fj. People running UCA's, spacers, doing BMC's, diff drops, for zero reason, and in fact hurting themselves and the rig.

Not that it matters if all you do is drive it to Walmart and McDonalds, or drop the kids off at where ever you drop kids off at.

If i was you, id go in a deep dive what Kai has to offer, and pay more attention there, than on forums. Spoke with him more than a few times going way back. The dude gets it.

    Just me ..... Cheers.

Enjoyed the video. For those who didn't watch he had a few main points to make here.

    1. Use the maximum offset that will allow you to clear your UCA. In this case Kai stuck with a TRD +50 offset wheel. This cleared his UCA but did not increase scrub radius significantly.
    2. He stuck with skinny 37s. 37x11.5 was an ingredient to the "no cut" secret sauce.
    3. Alignment matters. Specifically caster granted from the LCA, appose to high caster UCA's (which can actually hurt you clearance to the body mount and firewall)

There is plenty more to unpack from this video, but these were the main points I gathered from watching. Definitely another good one from Kai.

So I'm going back through some of his older videos. When he is talking about 4Runners and fj's and their alignments. He doesn't exactly completely elaborate on how rake or lack of rake will positively or negatively affect your alignment. Anyone care to elaborate on this a little more

^If you add rake (say by lifting rear suspension), the caster angle is reduced.

For example, you lift the rear 2" and your wheelbase is 109.8". The loss of caster is TAN-1(2/109.8) = 1.04 deg. Losing caster this way affects steering feel but doesn't affect front tire clearance.

So I'm just trying to understand this if all things being equal are you saying that it's easier to get a vehicle in alignment spec if you have less rake?

"All things being equal" means reducing rake by lowering the rear. You'd have to lower the rear 2" just to gain 1 deg of caster. By the time your alignment is in spec, you'd be in a Carolina Squat.

If you reduce rake by lifting the front, the inclined UCA pivot axis causes you to lose caster.
