What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

State Taxes has So much to do W/pump prices! $3.34 here & we have top 3 in lower 48 in Pa.! & the roads totally Suck ,which is what that tax is for!!!!! Not Even gonna make the political comment , because I know Directly how that ends here.

Hand washed and dried the 2018 today.

 

Put new rear pads and tires on her for our 3 year anniversary. Super proud as it was my first new car purchase back in 2022 which coincided with my sobriety from alcohol. Here we are 3 years later!!!

Those are Yakimas. Timberline system with 60" Jetstream crossbars. More spendy than I wanted to go, but seems these have a great rep. Finally figured I'd have these for years to come so a couple hundred more wouldn't matter in the end.

I meant to post this earlier, but last Saturday on the way home from the gym, I got pulled over by the local police for not having a front license plate on my 4Runner. I got away with a warning but was surprised to get pulled over for this one very minor offense.

Needless to say, I am NOT drilling a license plate frame onto my beautiful black front valance...I plan to see how much that ticket costs next time I get pulled over for no license plate...and then I still probably won't put one on.

 

Dumb law. I looked it up and supposedly 29 states require front license plates. You can probably guess what states these are. Meaning if you live in one or travel through them. Lol

That would work. On the other hand, I really don't like the look of a front license plate, so I will probably skip it until I am several tickets in and they start to get expensive due to repeat offenses. But at the rate I'm going (only getting pulled over once in 2 years, 3 months of ownership), it may never become a problem.

 

You're giving the police probable cause, meaning they can pull you over for that and if you have been drinking or have something illegal in your truck you can get a ticket or arrested.

 

I haven't had a front plate on any vehicle of mine in exactly 10yrs - MA requires them, and so do the states around me. I ziptie the plate on for my yearly inspection, and cut it off in the parking lot of the inspection garage on my way out. I've never been pulled over for anything, including no front plate. I don't drive like a dick, so they have no reason to hassle me. I DO keep the plate on the floor in the back seat with a broken zipetie in the holes - so if I do ever get pulled over, I can say "the plate is right here - the ziptie broke and I didn't want to lose it".

 

Good points - when driving around with probable cause hanging out there, that makes it easier for one's civil rights to be violated during a traffic stop. I minimize the potential for this by not driving when I've been drinking and not keeping anything illegal in the vehicle (which that's relatively easy since I live in a "constitutional carry" state where I can drive around with a gun(s) and not get hassled). There are certain items I remove from my vehicle and my person when traveling to nearby Illinois.
