True, since the LCA is still being held in position just fine. Usually lower ball joint separations are caused by clueless owners that don’t maintain vehicles and ignore noises of impending doom for hundreds of miles lol

It’s obviously not the same hence the Tacomas with the top hat failures.
Yes, an electronic parking brake is one of the dumbest components ever added to a vehicle. If you can’t see the problem with them then there is no hope for you.

You know what they say about opinions...

The mechanical parking brake on 5th gen is a piece of shit. It doesn't hold worth a damn on any grade. It freezes in the winter and flash rusts to the rotor hat after a car wash. And being foot pedal operated it can't be used effectively for sliding in turns.

Agreed. People have become so reliant on electronics, they can't operate a parking brake anymore and need yet another computerized module to do a simple task for them.

I park on a steep incline and my parking brake works great. Heck I would prefer the hand pulled parking brake, I have that on three of my vehicles and love them.

Works fine for me, my driveway is on a steep incline, no issues using the foot brake.

Don't skip your leg day. I bet you are waiting for self opening doors since the 4R doors also can't stay open on steep enough inclines. :militarypress:

This shows you're clueless as usual. On the 5th gen you can adjust the parking brake shoes to either drag while driving, or be ineffective so the vehicle is actually resting on the transmission parking pawl. There's no happy medium. I have no problems pressing the parking brake pedal to the bottom, it just doesn't do anything once set.

    Talk about projection. LOL.

works fine for me from the factory on both of my 23s. holds the 4Rs fine with the transmission in N. When I'm not in the garage, I always set the parking brake with transmission in neutral and it never rolls back when I let go of the primary brake pedal, then I reapply primary brake and put the transmission in P.

Seems like it's a "you" problem. So you are the kind of people the electronic parking brake was created to help. Car companies are known to engineer for the lowest common denominator.

Then your parking brake would be dragging while driving. But you wouldn't know because you've never adjusted the parking brake yourself. And the design is still vulnerable to flash rust after a car wash or freezing.

You sound pretty self assured for someone with such weak legs, he needs electronic parking brake just to park on a hill. LOL.

The Internet sure is a rich tapestry of personalities.

Unlike you I actually wrench on my 4Runner.

Anything is better than the piece of shit parking brake design on the 5th gen.

Not our fault we have functional left legs. It's an exclusive club and you are not invited, apparently. LOL.

Also my sympathy for your disability.

Except I have no problems pressing the parking brake pedal. The parking brake just doesn't hold worth a damn. Another delusional series of posts from you.

The irony of someone who accuses others of being clueless and not wrenching on their vehicles, but who himself cannot master the magical dark arts of manual parking brake, is indeed what it is.

Clearly you don't wrench on your 4R if your parking brake works.

It will be all fixed once I finish designing the device that allows punching people in the face over internet. Do you want to help me test the prototype?

    Somebody found the "delete" button.

what he cannot change is that there is also the "quote" button with which others can use to capture his emotional intense dislike for mechanical parking brake that most people seem to be at worst "meh" about.

Way to bury the lead........that the factory OR shocks come with remote reservoirs :bananadance:

I’m not sure they give the same benefits as a regular resi, since these have less range of ‘normal damping’ , since a the aggressive bump-zone valving takes up part of the stroke.

They probably needed the reservoir for this very reason.......they heat up much quicker with that shorter stroke.

Aren't remote reseviors usually separated from the body of the shock and connected via a hose of some sort?
