I was looking at this…

 

Teton Cot plus Stansport self inflating, And in freezing weather a closed cell thin backer packer pad with Home Depot mylar air filled insulation under the Stansport. Lots of storage under cot. Fits over folded 2nd second row and is about 74" long.

 

I have a Therm-a-Rest Base Camp with a R value of 6 for insulation on my custom platform with slide outs. Just about perfect for storability and comfort, but thinking of getting something thicker for my ever aging body. But it's hard to find a quality one that's 30" wide and no more than 70" long.

Went with low profile platform since im almost 6' and want to be able to sit up when needed. Plus i get the slide outs bonus. Always looking to make things multi purpose.

At first, yes. After a few weeks it was gone. It bothered me when it was new.

 

I like your cot, but which model is it that doesn't have feet at the very ends? I don't see one like it on the Teton website. Thanks

It is the Somnia Ultralight Camp Cot.
I always admire its quality and engineering when I set it up. I used an Army cot when overseas in 1968. The Teton is far superior and comfortable. Seems no longer produced, probably due to mfg. costs.
11" is needed to go over folded seat. If I was adapting a current type with end legs, I would use the top of the folded seat to support the front end.
Perhaps a used one can be located? I got mine about 2018.

Bought a cheap slatted bed base and some leftover material... and a little more working time
Not yet sleep tested, a mattress is still missing.
Installation takes less than 2 minutes if the 2/3 seat base is already out (drawer box stays in, of course).

Yes. I added hinge and carpeted the driver side. Need to do the passenger next.

 

Here's a question. For those of you who have gone 'seat delete', do you ever regret it? I use my 4R for solo camping mostly, so I am seriously considering removing the seats so I can stretch out more, but I am afraid of those times where I do need the second row seats. So some real world experience will help me to decide. Thanks.

 

I started with removing the seat bottoms for more headroom when sleeping. Easy, 4-bolt removal in 10 minutes. That was a big space improvement.

Eventually I did a full seat delete and built the simple plywood deck shown above. That gave me a lot more storage. The nice thing is that both mods are reversible in an hour or so if I sell the vehicle or need more seating. This is not my daily driver, so I leave it pretty packed all the time.

 

Headroom on mattress with 2nd row removed would be much more comfortable.
With my cot on Passenger side I keep the 2nd row driver side seat up. When camping I use the seat for changing clothes, reading, etc. then when tired I just roll onto cot. Its also easy to enter/exit cabin. In the Army I learned to sleep anywhere. I usually lie still when asleep, so I do not mind the low ceiling.
Most important is to get outdoors. You have the perfect rig to enjoy our beautiful country.

 

New here, my wife and I just bought a new 24 ORP and are outfitting it for some camping. Been researching a sleep mattress that would fit and bought a New Horizon mattress made for a Tacoma. It is a self inflating foam and air mattress and we find it really comfortable for both of us. It fits perfectly around the wheel wells and length is just right with the seat bottoms removed. Found it on Amazon.

I removed the rear seats completely for my most recent version. But, I only use the platform a few times per year. So, I leave the seats installed most of the time, and pull them out when I want to use the platform (usually the weekend before).

It's probably a 15-20 minute process to remove the seats and install the platform. Some people would probably find it inconvenient. But, for me, it's worth the effort to have the rear seats available most of the time.

 

I regularly take the seat bottoms out and put them back in when needed. Then fold the seat backs down. Just two easy-to-get-to bolts for each side. Just a few minutes.
