What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

I feel similar pains i wasnt paid off yet but i was a year ahead on payments

Just got the shipping notice that I’ll get them Feb 3rd. I’ll install them and take before and after pictures. I know the LED Fog’s make a huge difference.

 

How is it still working for you? I miss not have a back up sensor

RCI aluminum gas tank skid. Took about an hour. The bolt by the driveline wasn’t fun with my huge Popeye arms. I think that completes my skid plates installation. Also the obligatory American flag decal brought over from the old Tacoma days.

Changed her fog clear LEDs to Xenon Depot Xtreme LED Pro H16 Yellow Bulbs and with Lamin-X protective film in Yellow I'm loving the throw of the glow from this set up.

I finally got around to trimming the front bumper cover in preparation for something a bit larger than a 285/70/17.

I didn't remove that much, and think it turned out well.

Looks good! Is this the high clearance mod or did you do the cut yourself? Are you planning on going to upgrade to 285/75 R17 or 295/70 R17 or something different or larger? Curious because I've been toying with going to at least 34" tires when these wear out and body chop mod and trimming are in store...

 

I just trimmed the bumper and wheel well splash guard. No additional mods. I'm going with a 295/75. All you need is tape, a sawzall and a utility knife. Well, I added some edge trim to clean it up.

 

I'll be interested to hear about all the trimming, etc that will go into fitting those tires! They'll look badass! Keeping the TRD rims or changing them out to something wider?

 

295/70/17 fit my 2016 with nothing more than the normal fender liner mod and that was at 1.5" lift with a 17x8 wheel that had 0 offset and 4.5" BS. You don't have to trim the bumper like that however it does look great. Just throwing that out there for guys that may want to run a 295 but may not want to trim that much off their bumper.

 

Hopefully this is it. I'll continue using the TRD wheels the taller sidewall will negate any negative effects on the contact patch with the narrower than approved rims. I am planning on a BMC, but we will have to wait and see what all rubs when I take her through the paces off-road.

 

Where is your caster? With 4 ish degrees you will likely not have to do the BMC but you never know.

 

I'm just under 3°
It's not a big deal though. It will just give me another welding project.

 

Definitely not ideal with your lift. Push closer to 4* and you'll improve ride quality, decrease bump steer and road crown drifting issues. You'll also give yourself a little more BM clearance which is a plus.

 

In all honesty, it drives better than stock, and tracks straight and true. Im still on the stock UCA's, but will be swapping them out soon enough.

 

Ah so you're likely maxed out on your cam bolts now to get where you're at. When you go with new arms, try getting in the 4* range and see how you like it. The 3.5-4 degree range seems to be the sweet spot for the 4Runner and Tacoma but as we all know every truck is slightly different. Worst case, you tinker with it until it's where you want it.

What did you put inbetween that and the engine bay where the liner was?

 

The liner is still there. Just trimmed to fit. I'll probably make a cover for the washer fluid reservoir, or just paint it.

Guy was super cool, retired marine/law enforcement selling on Craigslist. Made for a great and stress free transaction

 

Hell yea, been looking for husky liners, still got my taco ones lol sadly they dont fit.

 

I’ve got the oem all weather mats but only after buying a set locally for 40.00

Cheaper than the good stuff and much better than the carpet mats for my use. My main need was the cargo liner though- nice to be able to throw random crud back there and not make a mess of the carpet
