    Oooh look, another mod.....
I stole this idea from someone else and I'm taking all the credit for it. That's how I roll.

Without further ado, let's get this party started. Here are a few features/options I wish my 4Runner had:

This was awesome to have in the 80's; back when I didn't want to run the a/c and only wanted a cool breeze from mother nature:

So was this; I know this ages me but so what!

I also miss that under steering wheel vent that GM cars had in the 80's, or as I always called it "A/C for my nuts."

Those locking hubs would pair nicely with a solid front axle.

I’d like a full-time 4WD transfer case with a selector lever that lets one choose among 4Hi and 4Lo, unlocked and locked.
    IMG_1348.jpg
And front and rear diff locks that I could engage whenever I wanted.

And while we’re at it, drip rails over the doors.

And while we’re in fantasy land, how about a straight six and a PTO-driven winch and wheel wells that would accommodate 35” tires and … and … (smoke coming from ears).

I never liked getting out and locked in hubs. Half the time I had get back in and rock the truck and try it again. No more please, much better to do that inside.

I just wish my 5gen OR had heated seats and steering wheel and a bigger gas tank.

Sadly, I too was the remote control. On MANY occasions my father or mother would yell at me "Come here right now!". I'd walk into the living room, and find them sitting on their ass.. "Change that channel for me." After I did it, they would tell me "Okay, thanks. You can go now."

Typing this out makes me mad at them all over again. I have an angry phone call to make now!

heck I wish I could find an OR. In 2023 in my region Toyota was only shipping ORPs with sunroofs so I am stuck with the roof along with heated steeringwheel and seats even though I didn't need them.

Ha! My old 3rd Gen had this underwheel vent. Could have used one on my drives across the desert these past couple of years!

    Yes!

Remember when some manufacturers switched over to auto hubs? No more getting out in mud puddles and such!

I had an opportunity to look over an old Willys last summer, gave me some ideas...

Thought of how this could be powered off a clutched secondary PS pump.

Been there, done that too. We had a Black & White Zenith and the fine tuning was a knob on the back of the TV.
My Dad "lost" the knob and replaced it with a pair of Vise-Grip pliers. So I'd get that, son come in here now...
Fix the TV for us and we'll feed you dinner tonight.

Dude, don't even bring up dinners as a kid. I had two options for meals in my house growing up:

    1) Take it.
    2) Leave it.

My Wife also had those choices when she was younger. She is one of 9 children.

Being an old CDL driver, I would have liked a manual transmission, lower transfer case gears and lower final drive gear ratio's.
And I could do away with most of the Nanny features. Just let me drive the damn thang.

But that's what my TJ is for. Love the 98:1 crawl ratio.

Dealer installed gun rack. My high school parking lot was heavily populated with shotguns in those back window gun racks during dove season. Early morning and evening stops at a pond.

Things I miss coming from a Tacoma:
    Hand-operated parking brake
    6th gear
    Rear seat center console storage
    Storage bins under rear seats
Large round air vents that don't break

Things I miss coming from a Tacoma, but were available in higher-trim / later-year 5th gens:
    Push-button start
    Adaptive cruise control
    Backup camera
    Turn signals in side mirrors

Things missing that I addressed through mods
    A-pillar grab handle
Two more cupholders on center console
    Tap-to-blink turn signals
    Locking fuel door
