yeah we could care less about back seat comfort for humans. thats why we switched from a 2016 tacoma to a 2018 tundra since the tacoma was so small for our 2 GSP bird dogs.

the wife makes me take the dogs to nail trims so i use the 4R with seats down and rear window down for them.

i had to special order my 2014 4R without a 3rd row since i hardly carry more than me 90%, 9% wife, 1% dogs and she only has driven the 4R maybe 5 times in 11 yrs. in the last 7 yrs, the back seats have been folded down all the time.

    Can confirm

I am basically a lesbian plus appendage

but technically it is my wife's Subaru

and she has only intermittently embraced the lesbian lifestyle

    Sigh

i actually was surprised how engrained subu is with the LGBT+ community. me being in sheltered ND (we are usually 5-10 yrs behind the country in everything). ran across a reddit post where a guy's wife was assumed LGBT driving her subu and she was really offended when she was treated that way.

going down that rabbit hole for a few hours was enlightening to find out about that whole dynamic and how its stereotyped in some states more than others that driving a subu you are considers part of that community.

    Ultimate thread jack below

This is totally random but talking about Subarus and lesbians and such, for the longest time when I saw the equality sticker on people's cars, which looks like a pair of Captain's bars, I thought that person was of rank or had retired at that rank from the military and I would give them a little salute as a thank you for your service as I would go by. It was not until years later that I learned that those aren't Captain's bars and that's the equality symbol and the driver of said vehicle is most likely a non-hetrosexual individual. As George Costanzo would say, not that there's anything wrong with that!

In my area Subarus are mostly bought by three groups

    -lesbians, particularly those with dogs
-older Asian people, a lot of them ex-Toyota buyers. I think the less controversial styling compared to recent Toyotas and Lexus appeals to them, along with the pitch of AWD even though we never get snow here and rarely rain.
-vape bros. Oh the vape bros.

I don’t get out much these days, but we do have a significant lesbian population in my small town and I’ve observed that their chariot of choice is some flavor of Jeep Wrangler…. Usually a 4dr, with a 3” lift, 37” MT’s, and a shit-ton load of bolt on off-road crap that will never leave the pavement .

This thread started out talking about the 6th Gen and it showing up on showroom floors, 10 pages later, we're talking about the gay community and how they manage finances.

I know he’s a giant but saying the back seat space is ok while your knees are touching the seat it front of you? Come on. Thats nonsense. No one wants to be crammed in a seat like that. Why didn’t they move the rear seats back 4” and take space from the rear cargo area?

Because then people would complain about the lack of cargo space, duh!

For most people, the backseat is fine. Most people are 5' 11" or less. So that means the front seat would be moved forward and give the back seat passenger much more knee room. Besides, they're the BACKSEAT passenger. They're suppose to make compromises.

There’s more to it than just legs. I like to put things on the floor in the back seat like gear, groceries, etc. To me that is more useful than an extra 4” in the cargo area

I would guess that Toyota designed the rear seat architecture to the common denominator of a big ass battery..... and the non-hybrids paid the price.
