In normal driving, every time I hit a small bump in the road, there is a slight banging in the suspension. I can't pinpoint exactly where it is coming from. It is very noticeable on colder mornings, under 50 degrees. The local dealer has looked for the noise 4 different times at this point, with no idea where it is coming from !! It is completely stock as it came from the dealer, hasn't been used off road yet. Any Ideas ?

A bit confusing as the title says 2019 Pro, but your details say 2002 4Runner...I'm guessing this might be new to you?

Did 2019 have Fox or Bilstein from the factory?

Not 100% sure. But if it came with the made for Toyota Fox system, might be time for a rebuild. Either way this is where I would start. Looking at mounts first, then if nothing obvious a dead shock.

So a 4-5 year old vehicle with how many miles? Condition of the shocks would be my first check point. Spring sag could increase likelihood of the suspension bottoming out.

But, if these are indeed the Fox Shocks it may be the 'clunking' issue due to an incorrect spring perch...which was addressed in the T-SB-0094-20.

Edit: Adding images of the difference between spring perch and coil clearance.

I noticed this on my trd fox shocks a couple weeks ago when it was 20° or less. My shocks are also the 2019/2020 version.

Do you think the dealer would honor the tsb if my shocks weren't original to my vehicle?

I honestly could not answer that with 100% assurance. If you scroll down the TSB there is an outlined notice about “Applicable Warranty” that mentions basic warranty coverage of 36 months/36,000 miles after the original in service date of the vehicle in question.

I would still at the minimum inquire at a dealership to see if they would honor the TSB.

I do see that now. Thanks for pointing that out.

If all they did was update the spring perch I guess it doesn't effect the performance of the shock. And it's not a loud noise just noticeable.

Aargh, my bad. It’s not that the spring perch is the main culprit but something internal. I should preface that I was fortunate to have bought a 21 model that came with updated shocks with the changed spring perch…which as it turns out is the way to visually identify the ‘noisy’ shock model from the updated one. So, there has to be something internal that Fox changed be it valving or a change to one or more of the internal bypass zones. I apologize for mis-informing about the cause of the noise.

I KNOW THE EXACT ISSUE. I had this exact issue: slow to moderate speed, uneven/wavy/slightly bumpy roads, and a clunky/knocking noise. My fox pro shocks had 43k original miles.

My symptoms were exactly that described by T-SB-0094-20, but my year (2022) wasn't covered. Thank god my car was a CPO, so I used that to replace the front shocks (the dealer quoted 3k and some change OTD for the front 2 shocks)

It's the internals of the shocks, and the dealer won't find anything just on the lift. Bring the TS-B to them and a recording of the issue. I did some digging, pre-2021 shocks were PTR-89190-###, 2021, 2022 (& I believe 2023) were PTR-89210, 2024 were PTR-89240. If you want, I can send you a video OP of the noise I was hearing.

The dealer replaced my PTR-89210 with PTR-89240. This issue was actually driving me nuts since I lived in LA where the roads are so wavy from semis in the summer

This is not the updated version; this looks like Westcott's Pro-specific pre-load collar lift kit.

The one below is from the last model year, 2024 Pro; you can still see the notch is still there and the 24 in the part number.
