Yes...I know its a bunch of hokey you tuber's, but the wife wants to go, and I'd be stupid to turn down a trip to Utah.

    Anyone else going?

We are leaving a few days early and taking the scenic route out from Michigan. After the games, we're going to also hit Moab for a few days (the part of the trip I'm most looking forward to).

I've been to Moab twice on my Honda Africa Twin... this will be my first time on four wheels.

I was there last month. Clear 55 degree days and 40 degree nights. Milky Way is not visible in January, I should have done my homework. But I had fun wheeling

Go with tools to be able to change a tire, roadside assistance is not cheap in Death Valley.

Death Valley won't be in the cards for this trip. From what I know, sounds like a place you don't want to explore very far solo.

Dv is very far from SE Utah.

SE and central Utah, and N Arizona honestly has enough to keep you occupied for weeks. This area compared to anywhere else in the lower 48, has perhaps the highest density of diverse landscapes suitable for a 4R to explore.

OP look up some land marks in that general region:

    white rim trail
    Long canyon
    Chicken Corners
    Capitol reef NP
    Lake Powell
    Valley of the Gods

are you driving through the CO Rockies via I70 ?

Will they be teaching people how to use a tow hitch to perform recoveries instead of a proper shackle?

I've done White Rim on my motorcycle. We'll have the dog along, so that is out (no dogs... even in vehicles).

Long Canyon and Chicken Corners are on my list.

Taking the scenic route through the Rockies...no expressway!

You might want to consider a hitch/shackle for recoveries. Using a tow-ball is for hacks and dumb-asses.

After 4 days and a bit over 2K miles of meandering our way across the US, we are in Hurricane.

Ran into Rory and the Trail Mater crew at an off ramp today along I-70, just west of Green River. Said a quick hello.

Stopped by the Fab Rats shop. Wife bought an overpriced sweatshirt.

Tomorrow is a rest day. I'm tired of driving.

4Runner averaged about 17.5 mpg on the trip. We seemed to be fighting headwinds the whole way. I kept speeds to 75 or less.

Awesome! Sounds like a great time so far.

I'd have loved to go, but it wasn't in the cards timing wise. Plus I also kind of have an aversion to events with big crowds.

It IS a great chance to meet a lot of cool YouTubers though, I'm big fans of Seth, Nate, and Todd (Project Farm) and of course Matt & Rory's crews.

We are enjoying some beautiful Hurricane Utah weather today;chilly and windy chances of rain Friday and Saturday.
Got all signed in yesterday, totally painless and well laid out and marked.

Updated the thread title for 2025.

Once again we are making the long trip from the UP of Michigan to southern Utah for the Off Road/Wrecker Games. We had a great time last year.

This year's event is March 20-22.

    Anyone else going?

We are staying in Hurricane for a full week this time, and are then heading to Moab for another week of fun.

Would be fun to meet up with some other 4Runner owners to run some trails together.

I just started following Murphy's Diesel out of Arizona on YouTube, that Ram 5500 off road recovery unit they have nicknamed "Hell Boy" is something else. Rick is super proficient in his recovery and winching skills, pretty impressive to watch some of their recoveries.

    Bringing your 4Runner?

We've taken ours out in Sand Hollow and some of the other local trails, and had a ton of fun.

Nothing too crazy...we gotta be able to drive home afterwards!

I would like to go. Hell, i live in Layton Utah. I missed it last year, but would like to go. Wheres the place to stay down there, hotel wise? Ive beat the hell out of my runner in moab more than half a dozen times, but thats as far south as I've gone. For now anyway. I tore up the pass side tie rod, but had a spare. Always been a killer time, and I would like to check this out.

We rented an Airbnb last year and again this year. I prefer a house to staying in a hotel.
