    TOYTEC 3" Lift
Hi all, I recently purchased a 2022 4Runner OR w/ KDSS. It came with 2" rear and 3" front coils. After measuring the lift (center hub to fender) is about 1.6" Rear and 3.2" Front. This setup is using the stock shocks and stock UCAs.

    Any concerns keeping this setup?
Are the shocks going to be topping out on daily road driving?

I don't think the UCA will be an issue because the stock shocks will limit the droop.

I'm considering the Dobinson IMS struts and coils. Originally thinking about getting the standard IMS strut, IMS59-50700, with C59-302 coil to get 2.5" Front. Same question as above, will the 302 coil with standard strut cause any topping out issues?

The Dobinsons are not really different from stock with regard to minimum (compressed) and maximum (extended) length. There is a thread somewhere that I believe lists the lengths of a bunch of different shocks.

I don't know if you off road at all, but if you do, I'd be surprised if you didn't hit the end of the shock extension by having taller coils with the stock shock absorbers. That should limit the available down travel, since the shocks are intended for a shorter coil spring. Curious that whoever upgraded to these springs didn't replace the shocks also.

How does it ride on the street? Over speed bumps and whatnot?
You should be able to tell if the shocks are topping out. This is pretty likely with the setup you've described.

If you replaced the suspension what would your ideal lift height be?
Planning to add any weight to the vehicle? (Skids, bumpers etc.)

    TOYTEC 3" Lift
It rides a little stiff, jumps around a bit on speed bumps.

I'd like to get a 2" lift, with ability to adjust up to a max of 2.5". Not planning to add much weight, possibly rock sliders and a roof rack (not RTT) in the future.

I dont have the exact specs of the front shock but i have measured the rear. Stock droop travel is only about +3.5" longer than stock ride height. Meaning if you jack it up from the trailer hitch, you are going to max out the rear shocks where it picks the tires up in about 4"
So if you put taller coils on, and it lifted the vehicle +1.6" in the rear you are going to only have about 2" of droop travel. This is when you flex, go over stuff, hang a tire down between a set of ruts, hit a speed bump at speeds, you have a much higher risk of topping the shock out meaning the piston in the shock will reach its internal limit essentially bottoming the shock out on its up stroke (called topping out)
I know on the Xreas front and rear it seems they are about -1" shorter stroke than the OEM and with the Eibach +1" taller rear springs, you only have about 2" of droop travel so going around corners at speeds with a little body roll, and hitting a pot hole, you can top the rear shock out in a pot hole. Going over a curb with a little speed or a speed bump at an angle, you can also feel and hear the shock top out.
You can physically run like this without much issue other than consequently shortening the life expectancy of the shocks. They dont like being topped out, it blows the upper seals out much faster than a standard life expectancy

Also, typically, a lot of folks doing a 2-2.5" lift will use the shock spacer that goes between the top hat of the shock and the chassis bucket. This spaces the shock lower, raising the vehicle, without changing the ride quality. Sure taller springs can also give you lift but they are typically stiffer rates, ride a bit stiffer, and on stock shocks are somewhat likely to top the shock out especially on any situations where you have droop travel like big pot holes in the road, curbs, or even the rain gutters in the sides of the road crossing them pulling into a parking lot at an angle.
Normally when people are going big, like 2.5"-3" you would swap the entire shock body with one that has a longer stroke length, there are many that are made to do 3" lift and most all of the aftermarket shock assemblies are adjustable for different heights of lift.

I wouldn't recommend keeping the stock shocks at that lift height. I'd recommend upgrading to
    Front:
C59-302 on IMS59-50574 can be set anywhere between 2-3" of lift safely.
Because these shocks are extended travel you'll still have some down travel.

    Rear:
    C59-599 w/ IMS59-50701 will land you at 1.25-1.5".
Not extended travel shocks so no need for any extra components.

Let the springs settle first then correct any lean with spring spacers in the rear.
    Should ride great.

Confirm with @Crikeymike at exit but this is what I would recommend for you!

Thanks for the advice. I was looking at Dobinson and originally thought this might work well:

C59-300 / IMS59-50701 - adjusting preload to get 2" (potentially adding spacer to get to 2.5")
    Getting stock 4Runner rear coil / IMS59-50701

With the ext travel IMS59-50574 - I'd need to do UCAs as well right?

I really wish if spring manufacturers offer longer springs to provide lift while keeping the same spring rate so I can still get the comfy cushy ride quality.

    I can't think of a reason that wouldn't work!

And yes, but at 2.5" of lift you'd likely benefit from UCA's anyways. These rigs like 3-4 degrees of caster ime.
Dobinsons UCA's help get you there and retain the factory upper ball joint.

Lots of ways to skin this cat. If you're undecided on lift height the Bilstein 5100's offer great value and will grant you some flexibility with lift height. Plus they are "extended travel" as well... although they do not advertise it. They just have a slightly longer extended length than most front shocks on the market.

Edit: You may need UCA's if you decide to throw in the top hat spacer on the IMS59-50701. The extra droop could cause the stock UCA's upper ball joint to bind up. Also avoid top hat spacers on top of the bilstein 5100's or any other ET front shock. That much extra droop risks CV binding
