    2024 TRD off road premium
I have a 2000 4runner that I purchased in 2002 when my 1989 Land Cruiser, which was in perfect condition, threw a rod towing a boat across FL. I had it towed to a nearby Toyota dealer and bought my 2000 4runner. Had it since then and still do. Best car I ever owned and it still runs perfect with one tiny dent in it and perfect otherwise. It now has about 175K miles on it but I've put so much money in it in the last 2 years that I decided it's time to buy a newer one. So, two days ago I bought a 2024 4runner with only 15,900 miles on it from a dealer. Like new condition. I pick it up in a few days.

I am keeping my 2000 because it's got so many newer parts on it, I might keep it as a backup - at least for a while. All the repairs I've done in last few years (like new radiator) were done so close to a shop that I never needed it towed. I was just lucky. But I was afraid that more might happen a ways from home and after 25 years, I decided to get a newer one.

The 2024 is so complex - Premium with TRD Off-Road - with all the bells and whistles I am lost on how to even turn on 4WD or even the radio, besides navigation, bluetooth and other stuff, that I need get on the forum. The navigation manual alone is a half-inch thick. And the car wasn't cheap, but it runs perfect, still under factory warranties and clean as new. I will keep it for a long time.

I originally wanted a new 2025 hybrid but I just found out that they won't even start making hybrids until at least Feb. Then I heard that it might be later, but that ordering exactly what I wanted could be getting it in May or June. I can't wait that long so I bought a 2024 model. Going from a 2000 model to a 2024 is a quantum leap.

And here I am on the forum. Maybe I should hire someone to teach me how everything works.

Any good videos out there on all this stuff or do I just spend the next few months reading the manuals?

    Welcome!

Great choice of trim. Check out YouTube, Toyota has some vids on how to engage 4WD, A-Trac, MTS & Crawl Control

    Welcome here man!

you made a smarter choice believe it or not getting the last 2024. Don’t get the first year of a drastically new gen.

I knew nothing about 4WD or even about Toyotas before I bought new in ‘16. Forget hiring someone to help teach you the complexities of the truck - this forum holds profound knowledge, coupled with YouTube. Use the search feature in the top right corner.
    Goodluck

Welcome and congrats! Peruse the manuals but also know there are many resources (knowledge and YouTube videos) covering many of the 4Runner features.

For example, just looking around the cabin you are somewhat overwhelmed by the number of switches and dials…the center console you’ll figure out in short order since it’s mainly the Radio and HVAC controls. But overhead is where this fellow IMHO does a fantastic job of the how’s and whys of A-Trac/MTS explained

He missed a few key features!
2:00 - For the rear cargo slide options there's a hidden storage compartment just behind the rear seats. You can see the two black 'pull' tabs that lifts the cover plate.
3:10 - The rear seats of the Premium model have a reclining adjust feature!
5:13 - Glovebox contents. See that little electrical pigtail at the far back of the glovebox? That's an adapter for installing a trailer brake to be used with the seven-way connector.
