    Hi everyone!

I recently bought a 2019 TRD off road and took it to a tint shop to have them do the front windows. A few days after the tint I noticed the switches for the front passenger side window and rear driver side window were no longer working on the master switch. The windows still roll down using the switches on their respective doors though and the master switch still works for the front driver side window and rear passenger window. I talked to the tint shop and they looked at the car and they said everything was hooked up correctly. They also said they completely cover any electrical components during the tinting process so nothing should have gotten wet. Because of this they said they would not cover the cost of an electrical inspection as they believed nothing they would've done would have caused the issue.

Before I take the car to a mechanic I was hoping to try and solve the problem myself. Has anyone had a similar issue? Is there another issues it could be besides with the master switch such as a fuse or loose wiring elsewhere?

    Thank you all in advance

Check to see if the installer took your door panel off and unplugged your switches. Just my .02.

    Oooh look, another mod.....
It's probably a fuse. Check your fuse box for a blown fuse.

This is a good suggestion also. I'm not sure why they would take the door panel off to tint the windows? But hey, everyone tints differently I guess. When I had my windows done, he didn't cover the interior door panels. They were wet as hell after he was done.

I checked the fuses for the doors and they all look good. I also took the door panel off and checked the wiring connections and they all look like the intact and I'm still able to roll down the 2 of the 4 windows from the master switch. I'm wondering if there's connections deeper in the car like inside the center console that could've been compromised?

This is a dumb question, but do you have the lock out button pressed on the drivers side switch?

lol no the lock out button is not engaged. A replacement switch seems to be cheap enough so I'm going to order one of those and see if it solves the problem. If not, then back to the drawing board.

You said they "all look good"
Did you put a meter on the fuse or replace it with a known good fuse?

    Why would you think that?
Did the tint installer work inside the center console?

That lock only locks out the other 3 doors

I worked at a tint company for a short period of time. When installing tint they spray a lot of solution on the glass prior to install. Maybe some of the liquid got into your switches and messed them up. Just thinking out loud...

Cheap quick T/S spray some contactor cleaner on the 2 switches that aren't working, if liquid got into contacts would clean the out if not no harm either.

I did check the fuses for continuity with a multimeter and they're all intact. I only wondered about the center console because tint shop did open it up while looking for the issue and said there was a decent amount of aftermarket wiring going on there that they weren't going to touch. The previous owner had installed a Dasaita head unit but I had no other electrical issues in the 3 months I've owned the vehicle.

My initial thought was also liquid getting into the switches but the owner was adamant that they would've been fully covered up during the tint installation. I tried to take the master switch unit apart to inspect and test it but could not get the circuit board portion removed from the housing. I will try the contact cleaner idea though and see if that makes any difference.

Will be curious when you do correct the discrepancy

So it looks like the whole issue stemmed from the tint shop disconnecting the battery. I did notice the clock had reset when I had picked the car up but I never put two and two together. Why the tint shop disconnected the battery I'm not sure. Plus I think the fact that two of the four window switches on the master switch still worked also really threw off my thought process. After trying a few other methods, I ran across the fix for resetting the automatic windows which I decided to give a shot even though the automatic windows still worked from the respective doors. This involved rolling each window down completely and then up and holding the switch in the up position for an extra second after the window the was fully closed. I started with the drivers door then rear driver side, rear passenger side and then front passenger side and after going through this process all the switches on the master switch are working normally. Thanks for all the input. I'm quickly learning a lot about 4runners.

Glad it was an easy fix!
You really threw me off when you mentioned about aftermarket head unit and wires under the center console. Congrats again!
