...on my newly acquired 2017 4 Runner SR5 flashes and rings momentarily when I accelerate from a stoplight on a level road. It does not act this way if I accelerate very gently. It did not do this during the test drive. The dealer filled the gas tank and cleaned the 4R before delivering it to me. Do you think it will stop flashing and dinging when the gasoline level goes down? Any thoughts?

Not normal, I would start from checking if there any error codes in ODBII scanner.

Is there any indication on the instrument cluster when it happens?

Maybe a door not fully closed that shifts under harder acceleration?

Does it have parking sensors? Maybe some funk on there from the car wash?

I’d talk to the dealer got it from sooner than later. Let them help you or at least make them aware of the issue.

On my Prius, the master warning comes on if a door is ajar. I haven't ever seen it come on my 4Runner (yet). Are you positive your liftgate is closed TIGHT? On my 2023, I have to shut it pretty firmly for it to "latch" or it stays halfway open.

Master service light? You mean the check engine light? Flashing check engine light means repeated misfires - it flashes because unburnt fuel will quickly fry your cats.

How's the fluid level of everything under the hood, especially the brake fluid and windshield washer fluid?

No, Toyota uses the "Master Warning" as they call it, other people call it the triangle of death...lol. It can come on for something as minor as a door ajar, or something like your engine has no oil pressure.

Ok so it's similar to the Tacoma. In that case @Fred Erick needs to see what other warning light is on or read what the gauge cluster screen says.

Yeah, my Prius has the same light. It will come on if the hybrid battery gets too low, a door is ajar, the engine is low on a fluid, I think even if a headlight burns out. Im betting the OP's liftgate isn't closed tight and when they are driving the bumps and movement are making it come on and go off, etc... just my guess.

actually if 2017 model don't have light when door is ajar - I had similar issue when my liftgate was ajar, truck beeps when accelerate fast but stay quiet when acceleration is slow. But I had special door ajar light in my 2022 so I figured that beep right away.
