How do I play the radio with the engine off? When I turn off my engine the radio turns off.

Press the start button twice without stepping on the brake pedal.

If you are arriving somewhere and you want to kill the engine but leave the radio on while you wait, you can shift to N, kill the engine, then shift to P. This leaves the ACC circuit energized.

That depends on the condition of the battery. The vehicle will shut down all by itself long before you're in danger of killing the battery though.

No, this is a question that NEEDED to be asked. 55 here, and this is my first push-start vehicle. Was wondering the same thing.

True, but sometimes it's easier to just ask. We should be here to help one another, not default to "it's in the owners manual."

20 years in advertising sales taught me it's all about CUSTOMER SERVICE, something that is so completely lacking in today's society.

Yes, but the OP wants info on the radio. It’s likely listed under “multifunction touchscreen center stack module unit” . Kinda hard to find.

I don't know, longer than most people would sit in their car and listen to the radio I imagine. It may actually auto power off after 10 min, I can't recall. I will say if you have your headlights on auto they will stay on using the N-off-P routine so pay attention to that as those could render your battery DOA long before the radio...

Waaaa.....:transformer: Perhaps we should all be JUST LIKE YOU.
I am just amazed at some of the questions on here. Many CAN be answered by LOOKING at the owners manual. I have learned a lot by reviewing manual on many a vehicle. THAT is why they come with a MANUAL.

    Oooh look, another mod.....
I use to be the same way. I'd reply "RTFM!" or "Google is your friend, idiot!" but I get it. Not everyone is as sharp or tech-savy as others on this site.

Hell, most have too much pride to even ask for help. They'll just keep trying to figure it out themselves for god knows how long until they finally figure it out or break it. This site's main reason is for like minded people to come together to help one another.

Some forget they have a manual. May sound dumb, but I always go through the manual when I get a vehicle new to me, to learn stuff about the vehicle. Maybe I need to work on my approach....sometimes being BLUNT is best way also....we are not ALL SNOWFLAKES and can take the blunt approach. Sorry if I hurt delicate feelings. :ohsnap:

Its one thing to ask a stupid question and get picked on for it. Its another to state that you know its a stupid question (lazy for not reading manual) and get flamed for not doing the obvious.

Besides, dumb questions is what we thrive on.

Modern drive-theaters (now there is an oxymoron!) utilize the cars sound system by having you tuned with certain radio frequency. 10 minutes is not near enough. There should be a way to keep the radio on for longer periods. Who wants to have the radio cut off right in the middle of the dramatic scene!

With today's computerized vehicles, I don't think one would last not running to watch an entire movie. The battery would die before the end. Far to many components drawing electrical power. On a another note, good luck finding a DRIVE IN MOVIE.

I work in tech.. I couldn't be bothered figuring out how all the options in the car work. I know I could read the manual, but it is way too massive and poorly organized, plus there are way too many options. I would only RTFM for safety features, like how to use passive cruise control over active (you hold cruise control button 3 seconds) or where the jack points are for portable jack.

For example, I know steering wheel has a programmable menu button. I probably could figure out how it works in less time than it took me to type up this post, but I couldn't be bothered.

Push Button start is poor UI for a multi-state system. Button = on/off, but the car has off/power only/running. The OP question is by no means dumb.

Exactly this!!! Push button start on road cars is idiotic. I imagine these things started out as trying to imitate the look of old-school race cars. What they failed to notice is that on race cars these buttons were only used to energize the starter. Ignition was on a separate circuit. And race cars had no reason to have an accessory mode, and didn’t have to worry about a the steering lock or transmission interlocks.

The twist key was a good system for road cars. Each click/position gives you feedback as to where you are and is stone simple. You know the state of the car just on position. Push buttons require you keep pushing and read the messages on the dash. It’s a dumb misapplied system that unnecessarily increases the potential for errors.

I remember when an owners manual was a pamphlet rather than multiple books.
