I was surprised to see how few stores opened this morning. Snow stopped yesterday around 1600... 4pm and at 0900 i didn't see one neighborhood plowed. Exit ramps plowed in and many intersections that gave the TuRD the cause for 4H. Main roads looked plowed 3 or 4 times. Crazy, i'm used to New York where everyone with a plow, snow blower or snow shuffle get out to make a few bucks.

I'm looking for one. Came to the realization that i'm to old for digging out a 200' driveway by hand with knee deep snow. At least when i buy it, i will never see snow again (my luck), lol.

I had to beat the plows out last night in Brookside! 14"-15" with 3 foot drifts. The new Wildpeaks passed with flying colors.

not sure I could ever get acclimated to the south humidity and heat. I spent some time this summer down there, when the locals were complaining about the heat and humidity, I told my wife, we need to leave if they think it’s hot, I was a walking puddle, well actually I was a puddle just sitting. Couldn’t drink enough water one day, so I drank the next and that didn’t help either. I’d have to live in AC to survive, and that sucks.

Yeah, walk outside in the morning, 8:30 am and the humidity hits you and you are already sweating before you get out of the carport.
Try to walk to the mailbox at 12:00 pm and within 15 steps you are rolling beads off your face and arms, and by the time you get to the mailbox and back you have sweat marks on the front and back of your shirt as your chest and back are now both rolling beads. Whats even worse is trying to mistakingly work at night assuming since the temp is 75 degrees that it will be cooler, nope, the humidity never rests. Working at night will cause you to become a water sprinkler and leave a trail of dripping sweat on the concrete as you walk. The humidity in central Louisiana and Central Mississippi seem the worst. I-20 thru Louisiana and Mississippi are what seem the worst. Worst heat / humidity i have ever experienced was in Monroe Louisiana. Second worst was in Vicksburg Mississippi. Both dead in the middle of the state, along i-20, and both absolutely unreal at how uncomfortable one person can be trying to work in them.
Matter of fact i just remembered this one, company i do a lot of work with gets migrant workers to work their labor intensive business. Landscaping, dirt work, tree work, grass cutting ect. They have about 30 normal employees hired 365. They pick up about 20 peak season workers and have dabbled with Guatemalans, hatians, south africans, mexicans, ect. They seem to think the Guatemalans work the best in the humidity where as the others normally are begging to go home. This past summer we had a LONG string of 100+ days with 90% humidity and he told me a few months ago a few of the Guatemalans went home and others were begging for breaks on the hot days. The heat and humidity in Vicksburg Ms and surrounding areas are absolutely unreal.
Eastern Texas has higher temps, but lower humidity
I do plenty of work over in Dallas and although the temp is usually a bit hotter than in central mississippi, its more like opening an oven in your face hot, not like stepping into a sauna hot.
Go east into Alabama, same thing, higher elevation, lower humidity
Go south towards the coast, interestingly close to the ocean you would think the humidity would be higher but its not. The water helps maintain the temps close to the coast quite well, the air blowing in off the coast helps maintain temps and humidity.
Go north a bit towards i-40 and things cool off more, higher elevation, and cooler and less humidity.
Central Mississippi and central Louisiana are what seem to be the worst to me.

Not a lot of snow but ice was plentiful in southern Illinois. Glad I got wildpeaks this Xmas.

just spent a couple weeks in NOLA and have to admit, the temps were not bad, but I could feel the humidity. I can even fathom summertime.

I live close to the coast here in Maine, and the ocean help keep things a little warmer in the w8nter and a bit cooler in the summer.

    Hello Maineiac.

I just looked at goky.ky.gov. Interstates are green. Couple wrecks here and there but no closures.

Yup, a dry cold is not the same as a humid cold. 45 degrees and higher humidity is a whole different ball game.

Do it! Let me know when you want to start the official KC club. I've got some good ideas for our T-shirts!

I'm on the Illinois side of the STL metro and we got about 8-10". Wet heavy snow, and a mix of ice. Very dense stuff. Even with a snow blower, it was a workout clearing the drive. For a change the city plowed my street but that left a berm at the curb that I had to cut through. That took just as long as the driveway. I could have just put it 4X4 and powered on but there are other considerations for me. It's not supposed to thaw for at least a week. That wore me out. Nasty storm.

How long has it been since you all got this kind of snow? It seems like it happens about once every 10 years now.
