You could also buy the Carista OBD tool and change it with that. Along with some other hidden settings that otherwise cannot be accessed.

 

Go under settings (meter settings) on the instrument cluster and toggle thru to disable eco light.

It's a 14 year old BOF truck. Nobody baby's a truck.

 

I read a contaminated MAS ( air control sensor) with dirt or oil can mess with fuel ratios. Is your aftermarket air filter possibly contaminating the engine air?

the good news is that with a larger tire, the ECU see's less rotations and thinks it's getting worse than it really is. So you're getting SLIGHTLY better than what is reading.

But yeah.....you're gunna get bad MPG

Premium gas wont help. Could re-gear and it should help a little and also flash the ECU. Might want to start with a flash by someone who asks what tire size you have and can adjust for that. A lot of people seem to really like their flash on larger tires.

 

By flashing the ECU your talking about a tune? Sorry if dumb question I just have not heard anyone refer to a tune as flash.

 

Yes.

But a real tune you go on a dyno and make specific adjustments per your specific vehicle.

Whereas a flash there's typically a lot less customization and fine tuning going on.

 

I get the same between 12 and 14. I have gotten 16 before but had to drive below 55 at all times. I knew coming into this vehicle that mpgs were bad. It is what it is. A square tank not aerodynamically at all....with a bunch of weight.
