Hi all!! I’m experiencing some issues with my 2007 runner. It first gave off a battery code, put in a new alternator, did the starter while we were at it. Still nothing. Bought a new computer, installed new grounds, still won’t turn over. The fuse on the interior drivers for a starter won’t register as getting power. Took the whole box out and cannot figure out how to get into it. Hoping, someone has a suggestion! A wiring diagram to go with it would be soooo helpful!

Have you verified the ignition switch functions as intended?

If you are going to fix this your self, I think you need a copy of the Factory Service Manual & quite likely the Electrical supplement as well. Electrical is hard. (for me at least) There are certain troubleshooting procedures that need to be followed, in order, to figure out what is going on. Or make friends with an automotive electrical expert. Sorry I can't be of more direct help.

    This

Also, have you checked for power to the starter solenoid, not the main (high current) 12V cable.

also, see if this will suffice for a manual

    and welcome to the forum!

Have you verified your battery is good? You didn’t give any info on it, unless I missed it.

You wheeled in the parts cannon and fired it. Cut your losses and take it in. You tried I get it. I’ve been in your situation and it sucks but throwing parts at it can get expensive

I sprayed a can of WD-40 in the key hole. Didnt seem to effect anything. Maybe the key is worn out?

Random codes popping up have caused people more money trying to solve them, when the truth is there is nothing really wrong.

If you can start your truck and it will drive normaly i would just wait and see if anything is really wrong.

Just quickly replacing everything as you now see solves nothing.

My feelings are Toyota is doing all it can to push people into their dealer stealer non service Dept's.

What color is the key that won't open the glove box, gray or black?

Ok just checking, the gray key is a valet key and they won't unlock the glove box which some owners are not aware of.

I remember my 2000 came with two black and one grey keys. After more than 380,000 miles the keys were so worn down that they started jamming in the ignition switch….had to wiggle em a bit to fully go in.

Make sure you are not using the valet key…….2007 keys has a chip for the ignition. Keep it simple, do not overthink the problem.
