    Work in progress.
Hello, I am interested in ordering those end caps at the bottom of the hatch when opened. Every time I wash my truck and open the hatch to dry it, those little holes where the bolts go collect some water and I dry them. Wondering if with those caps water still collecting and bolts will rust.
Anybody have any experience with this product? Thanks
    Happy New Year to all!!

I got a set from Etsy, but haven't checked for water in there after washing. I usually wash mine at home with low pressure, so not a lot of water gets in there. I got 'em mostly for looks, and stuff doesn't stay wet around here long enough to rust.

Hey I’ve taken my rear bumper cover off and those bolts out a number of times living in a salty area and they aren’t rusty. No caps since 2016. I doubt the caps are water tight in any way..
They do look really nice tho

The bolts still have the factory black finish on my 2010 after 14 salty winters. Don't worry about them.

If anything they will trap moisture. They’re just for aesthetics.

I got my bolt covers from this Etsy shop. HoneyIslandDesign. I’m pretty happy with them. Use a little dab of adhesive on the bolt heads for extra holding power.

Agree. If somebody is worried about corrosion on anything, the worst thing you could probably do is cover it. Rust doesn’t become a problem just because the metal gets wet. It becomes a problem when the metal never quite dries.

Agreed. The water sits below the bolt. And why cover it so it takes longer to dry out or may even trap water? Cover seems counterintuitive.

I wiped mine down after hand washing. I debated taking an artist brush and putting sole fluid film on all those. Every used unit I saw these were rusted. Same thing for these screws in front wheel wells. Sort of chincey.

The HoneyIslandDesign ones listed above have a drain hole at the bottom. It’s actual a pretty cool design. I’ll examine mine after this winter to see how they held up.

Those crannies can't drain by design. Each one is a bowl. A hole in a cap/cover won't do anything to change that?

OK, I just had to check. This is after 3 trips and many weeks and miles of dusty sandy trails in southern Utah, a few rainstorms, and a few car washes.
See how the insert covers the bolt. And BTW the bolt (anodized?) stands off and is above the bowl so it will not sit in any water that may collect there. Notice the collection of red dust at the bottom where it drained and dried, with no dust on the bolt head. There are grippy rubber strips along the sides and bottom that provide the tight friction fit.
It looks like a pretty effective design to me.
