well I wouldn't go that far - and I was pretty annoyed with my Tacoma. It was clear to me that the Tacoma for the price the was an overly clunky, noisy, rattley truck but it was also clear it would probably still go 300K kms and be on the road long after same model year competition litter junkyards.

Compared to GM, Ford, Fiat and Nissan the American-made Toyota trucks are still so far ahead it'll give you a nosebleed. The Japanese plants just appaear to be a cut above that still.

Just to lower the seriousness of it, you know what I do t miss her? My cup holder coming out constantly lol .

Or on a more serious note, I was glad that my remote start doesn’t turn off when I open the door. The little things…

Well thankfully, a commercial is the least important factor of why anyone with a brain buys an auto

I got nothing constructive to add except that I really don’t like cars with push button start or remote start.

I like having a physical key and there not being a chance of the vehicle being left to run if the key is outside and in my pocket.

My wife’s elderly aunt bought a new Infiniti with push button start and left the damn thing running in her garage overnight, thankfully she didn’t die.

My six-year-old likes to dig through my wife’s purse and fuck around with the keys to her Cayenne, thankfully we leave it parked outside.

Same here. Sadly new 4Runners and all other new cars have key fobs. So I bought Faraday box from Amazon to store it to reduce chance of theft. Traditional key with chip was so much better and the battery life would also be better than new. I keep spare battery just in case.

have you ever hung out in a 3rd gen Tacoma forum, lots of folks feel they have issues. I like my 3rd gen, but my 2nd is missed more, and I’m getting rid of the Taco for a 4Runner.

Conversely, I’ve hung out in Tundra groups and the general theme is nothing but positives. I’ve not heard too many people complain at all about the last gen Tundra (pre 2022)

    Perfect as is.
I have both TRD pros and can tell you the 4runner is by far superior to the Tacoma. Not even close. I was waxing the 4runner the other day and the paint is flawless. Both plastic and metal no difference and the 4runner just drives like a vault.

So I figured I'd update you guys. I had briefly owned the Lunar Rock TRD pro before trading it in for an Acura MDX Type S advance. Was a fun car but I missed the ruggedness a bit too much so after two years I traded that in for a 24 Lexus GX 550 Overtail +

Feels like I'm back in a 4runner like vehicle again with a more luxurious feel to it. Here's to hoping the 6th gen 4runner is as good as this is. Good to be back.

Nice GX, So you are back! Tell us, how is the GX platform? What do you miss from the 4R? Is the extra cost with GX worth? Seems like you are more of a city person and not much of an offroader but great to hear your new perspectives.

    Well played.

You own the overall best version of the TNGA-F platform to date. I think a lot of us Gen5 owners are cautiously optimistic that Gen6 turns out to be more like your GX, and less like Tacoma or LC250.

Very nice, congratulations. What engine does the GX550 have?

Did you go 2 for 2 and sell your MDX for more than you paid for it also? ;)

lol unfortunately I did not sell the MDX for more than I paid but I got a good two years out of it and still traded it in for about 70% of what I paid for it.

So far what I miss is the immediate mod support. It's a bit lacking thus far for the GX. A lot more for the Lamd Cruiser but I'm sure it'll catch up since they mostly are the same platform.

the GX is pretty fantastic. I've read some fit and finish issues with the early year builds but mine was a very late year production so I'm not experiencing any of that. Overall it's pretty close to perfect for me.

We had a MDX, the build quality and materials aren't nearly as good as Lexus. My 4Runner build quality is also better. We were going to look at the GX550, but decided not to wait after seeing the LX, we picked up a 2023 in February of this year.

I absolutely hate direct injection only on MDX and Pilot. So many fuel injector failures but good that Honda knows it and have extended warranty for injector failures. Of cause cylinder deactivation is another big no no to my eyes. MDX type S takes it to worse scenarios adding turbo into the mix of direct injection only + cylinder deactivation.

GX550 seems nice on paper when it comes to features. Surely need extended warranty for that questionable and unlucky motor from day1. It is sad for Hybrid Tundra owners are not lucky as gas only owners that get full engine assembly.

That recall is for engines built in 22 and 23. It's not resll6 related to the Lexus engine. If you watch that YouTube channel by the car care nut, he confirms this as Lexus/Toyota quietly changed some things for the 24 engines so this shouldn't affect anything on my end.
