There are literally 1000's of these trucks on the road, there will be parts produced for a long time. Company's know they will make money manufacturing parts and there are a lot of donor trucks in salvage yards.

There are still plenty of new hotwheels with detailed undercarriages, both plastic and metal. My daughter has a bin of them. Dumb ragebait

6th gen from website photos makes me want to by a late 5th gen with low miles on it just to have as back up incase my 2024 LE dies on me. Thinking an OR would be nice, would make it my weekend car and the LE my weekday car

I bet you’ll be able to find a used 5th gen much more easily than 4th gen’s were in the future so my completely unsolicited opinion is something to compliment rather than duplicate the 4R for you would be a nice fit. (For me, I’d look for a less-expensive Vehicle-2-Load-compatible EV - for home power - to putt around town.)

Wonder if there will be a lot of closet 6th Gen owners?

There will be a shit ton of 5th gen trade-ins on new 6th gens. If I knew anyone in the market for a 5th gen right now I'd advise them to wait a few months because the supply on the resale market will increase dramatically as soon as the 6th gen starts landing on dealer lots. Plenty of people don't give a shit about old school reliability v6 manual transfer case blah blah blah. The majority of buyers are just going to want the newest and most technologically advanced 4runners. In 2025 there are going to be many 10's of thousands of leases maturing and many 10's of thousands of loans being paid off on 5th gens. A good percentage of those owners are going to end up at their local Toyota dealer with their trade-ins.

Good point. Sometimes we forget that the vast majority of buyers aren't enthusiasts. They just want a shiny 4×4.

I'm 71 years old. I give a shit what anyone thinks about my new 2024 4Runner as being "antiquated"
If I had my choice to add to my stable, I'd still be driving my 1965 Ford F100 short bed side step truck with a side mounted spare tire.
    How about those Apples!

I couldn’t agree with this more. I think 5th gens will flood the market come Spring/Summer for the “run of the mill” owners who just want the newest year and technology.

I'm counting on it. The faster they move on and enjoy the super great, affordable, modern, powerful, sexy 6th gen the easier I can find my project rig. If I get lucky I might be able to find a low mileage 10-13 for cheaper than now.

It's a land cruiser. The FJ Cruiser is the retro remake

That has not been the case with the tacoma or tundra

Yes. The history of past generation evolution does not seem to support some of the claims that there will be a significant movement to the new unproven generation that will affect the value of the previous generations in any meaningful way. That is clear from the resale value support for previous generations that exists today, especially considering the higher cost level of the new 6th generation.

Buying the first model year of any new generation is such a bad idea imo. there are always bugs that need to get worked out. I will never trade my 5th in , its been a dream vehicle for some time and im more than pleased with it. I want to see how many miles I can get on it in the next 20 years.

This is true. Even though the engine has been used for a bit now in other vehicles ( i have it in my Lexus NX). The whole truck is new. So there's still body, electrical, etc to be worked out. And for these prices, i won't be the guinea pig for their testing.

Yeah, but I had to sell it, when I started school. A while after that I got Peugeot 205. Boy, was it an electronic nightmare. Unlike my beloved 4R :))I really love it. I mean it.
