    An engine is a bit more important than shocks to me.

    Ford tricked me with big tires and good looks (Bronco), I’m sure Toyota can trick people too (with good looks).

    Glad i got a 2024 LE, last year of the 5th gen. Right now from what ive seen I dont have a burning desire for the 6th gen. Kinda like the 1958 LC better than the 6th gen. I might even check out a Honda Passport or Bronco

    In automotive terms that's a laughable sample size, and I doubt any of us has warranty data on those ~5k units, mileage info, etc.

    I chuckled at the fact that a replacement of 100k+ engines is "a bad production run" but zero known data from 4900 LS units is enough for him to declare the engine "no problems at all".

    Maybe once all of the hybrid Tundras are added to the list the deniers will take it more seriously?

    If you must sort to arguing semantics between "no problem at all" and "without apparent issue", that's ... a way to pass time I guess.

    BTW the LX600 motor was within the scope of the recall

    LOL something something "True Character" something. I hope I'm not mis-qouting you as you are so easily jumping to accuse of others of doing.

    You mean merely another tiny batch of bad production run that needs not be mentioned?

    negative. if i do anything i will sell my 2012 for a 2024 5th gen possibly and just hold on to that for as long as possible. the current rates do not make it very palatable even with a good resale value.

    A couple months back I was thinking of doing the same, but late model values and rates turned me off. I'll see what happens in a few years.

    Now that the last 5th gen 4Runner has rolled off the assembly line I wonder how many years it will be before the spare parts begin to run out.

    Yup lol.

    And it will be viewed as a crying shame that the 7th gen will have 22 in wheels, is fully electric with a battery tray based frame, has no physical buttons anywhere, and that Off Road trims will come with a part time 3 wheel drive system with an optional 4wheel drive upgrade available only through the technology upgrade that includes a full dash-width LCD screen package that requires you buy the full glass roof option first. :D
    :anonymous::bananadead:

    In a few years, I predict the 6th gen will be the new “good old days” for the 4runner name. .

    A water powered engine will never happen. There's no way for anyone to get rich off of that.

    I will invent it then. It will be my startup. I will find investors, accumulate one billion dollars and sell my patent to Russia. Then I will buy it again from Russians (tax incentives will apply). Then take the money and design and manufacture 8th gen of Runners.

    Two weeks ago, I bought a CPO 2024 4Runner Limited with 1031 miles as a present for my 75th birthday. I obviously have zero interest in trading it in for a 6th gen 4Runner, but my situation is admittedly different than most of you. I am healthy, active and in good shape for my age, but realistically, I fully expect it to outlast me.
