Min lift for 285/70/17?

Just purchased 2018 T4RDOR premium. I would like to upgrade to 285/70/17 BFGK02’s on TRD pro rims. What is the minimum lift to accomplish this. Thinking 2.5” spacers front and 1” rear. Will this work?

 

The stock springs are VERY soft with a lot of Squat upon Acceleration and Nose Dive when braking. The Spacer Lift will only exagerate this even more.
As Stated, the Bilstein 6112 Front Coil-Overs (5160 Rear Shocks) with 2" Rear Springs would be a great Lift and a great ride. You would enjoy this much more.

 

I’m running 285’s on TRD Pro wheel with a 3” lift with no issues so far. My shop says they do it all the time with no issues. They were doing another 4Runner when I was their picking mine up.

 

I have a 3 in lift with 275-60-20 which is a 33.1 x10.8 x20 with a 0 offset rim and i have a slight rub on the back of the inner fender at full lock reverse

 

Ok my bad. Forgot to mention that I have KDSS. Does that change anything? Agree that stock suspension is a bit squishy but I was hoping for the least intrusive option that also kept the value of KDSS intact.

 

So feeling good about going with:
BFG KO2s 275/79/17 and jumping to the Bilstein 6112 Front Coil-Overs (5160 Rear Shocks) with 2" Rear Springs upgrade.

BUT any thoughts or recommendations on the rear springs since I will be towing small travel trailer. And sometimes small ski boat. Would you recommend an upgrade to the rear shock or stay with this? Thank you in advance!

 

Pertaining to your original question, there are people running 285's at stock height without major rubbing issues. You're most likely to rub due to the width of the wheel and/or the offset than you are with height clearance issues. I will be putting 285's on my 4Runner soon with a 1.6" lift in the front and 0" in the rear. I'll be running Trail wheels (17" x 7.5") with a 0 offset. TRD wheels are even skinnier.

 

You might consider adding air bags to the springs. Deflate for daily driving and then inflate when you are going to tow.

Hey man I’m going to be doing the same. Can you measure how tall your truck is now. What’s the max height from the floor to the highest point on the factory roof rack rail? Is it less than 77inches???

 

Best I could tell as I didn’t have help mine looks like 75-76 inches.

 

Cool. I think I should be ok then. Considering 275s to save a little in height and keep overall unsprung weight down.

I was having some rubbing issues when backing up every once and awhile so my shop did some front fender mods. They shaved the inside and moved the molding.

 

TRDP here, but I am lifted to the equivalent of 3.5" on a standard t4r. 285/70/17's on the stock TRDP wheels and 1.25" F / 1.50" rear spacers. No rubbing at all, in any condition or environment. I also do not have the front sway bar installed, so I see an extreme amount of articulation. Even with that, no rubbing.

I fit the tire stuffing on stock suspension and only had to do front fender liner mod and trimmed my factory mud flaps (I wanted to retain those) went camping with it in September in Bishop has to drive 22 miles of Offroad switchbacks with ruts and sketchy stuff and it handled it perfectly no rubbing.

I'm now lifted 2.5" on Bilstein and love it

Even with a 3" lift I still needed a cab mount chop, to eliminate any rubbing for offroad. But tires make a difference as well. Toyo MT's have the highest tread therefore new meats will rub at full turn in reverse.
