I'm very reluctant to purchase the 2025 4runner , the 2.4 turbo engine, I suspect will not be, as reliable as the 5th Gen 4runner, and this is very disappointing .

So don't? Look to how the new Tacoma with the same engine is doing and you'll have data to decide with.

New Ranger has the 2.7 TT. It’s fairly reliable from what I understand minus a couple of bad engines in the Bronco.

Reliability is not the issue, Toyota will make it reliable in a couple of years. The issue is the looks, thing is just ugly. What is your budget? Go GX550!

Generally don’t buy the first couple of years of a new model.

the ranger motor that's very good so far is the 2.3 TT, same as the one used in the Bronco 4 cylinder models. The 2.7 was the one with the value problems in the Broncos.

They put the V6 back into the Ranger. It’s pretty tempting.

that’s just it. I can’t get past the design.
The drivetrain, shrinking of space, and such are understandable.

The Taco has some transmission issues. What i don't understand is why are interiors getting smaller? The Tundra and Taco are both smaller inside. Curious to see the 4R interior in person when it hits the lots.

The middle knob on the center console between the air vents will never sit right with my brain. I will want to rip off that entire faceplate and redesign the button/knob/air vent layout.

I say to anyone on the fence, go buy the first year, and prove all the naysayers wrong. Just please don’t forget to start a new thread on fuel octane requirements and oil change intervals.

Good luck, we’re all counting on you.

Probably crash safety requirements / larger crumple zones.

And it's a very tunable V6 Twin Turbo too.

Its issues in the Bronco kind of came out of nowhere, prior to that it was in the F150 for quite some time and considered more or less trouble free.

What I would pay to have a modern day RWD Fairlane or Galaxie with that motor. Lincoln had everything going for it to do a modern day Continental but then wasted that nameplate on some meh FWD fleet special

I don't know about that. Both the Jeep and Ford give you a pretty decent manual option and in base trim both are somewhat decent if not good at what they do at what is now a fair price.

Well apparently, the new 4runner falls in the same category now according to general consensus.

the exterior dimensions have gotten bigger but the interior is smaller. It makes no sense.

Consequence of being on the same "platform" as the Tundra/Sequoia. Toyota kept the cabin the same width as the previous generation to preserve door opening space in the garage, but the tires stick out pretty far despite the massively inset +50mm wheels. This is the Limited trim without the wider Pro/Trailhunter flares

Totally unreliable. Piece of garbage turbo crap. Turbos make engines explode super fast. Won't last two minutes. Toyota has lost all hope. There are no reliable Toyotas anymore.

This is a great thread to talk about what a pos this new 4runner will be.

Joking. I'm sure the new 4Runner will be reliable but yes it is unproven. People will start putting miles on them and figure out what works and what doesn't. Everyone has their speculation and biase... but the truth is no one knows yet.

I'm excited to see the new generation of 4Runner... But I do hope they do a facelift soon. That double stash is not the look for me.

All that extra width but Toyota decided to not make the control arms any wider so there is not additional front travel, just looks.

    :/

Such a waste. What’s the point of having your wheels in the next lane over from the rest of the truck? They could have made the cabin much wider and gained some much needed space.
