Yep, they default to AUTO but to manually turn them on or off you have to poke at the infotainment screen a couple of times to open a menu and request what you want from the computer. You still have the turn signal/high beam stalk though I believe. They get to save on no longer having a dial to control the lights like before but still annoying.

Welcome to the age where nothing can be taken for granted!

Immobilizers, oil pump gears/chains, full-size and “full-size” spare tires are different, etc.

I’m torn on this because part of it is H/K reassurance for folks since their cars are famous for tending towards engine trouble more than usual and the warranty is only available in full to the original owner.

Ex-rentals, subsequent owners get the “standard” 5/60k that Toyota also has.

And that’s before dealing with an H/K dealer, no guarantee loaner while it’s waiting, fighting, etc, but of course not to say any other make has consistently superior experiences.

My company provides a Colorado for me to drive, it's a rear wheel drive 4cyl turbo. Power is ok, only gets 20 mpg's and as I sit here in The Keys soaking up rays and drinking Stella's, , it's in the shop having the transmission replaced for the second time. The truck has GPS, so I drive like an old man and never tow.

I definitely don't care for that!

I suppose if I could set it up to have the lights on whenever the engine is running, I could live with it.

I definitely prefer having a manual control on high beams. My work Chevy has auto high beams, and I didn't care for it at all. I was glad when I realized that I could turn that feature off!

Maybe we should compare the new crop of SAFE SUV's with all their radar, camera lane drift technology , and hybrid powertrain to the ultimate simple 4x4 of time long past- first gen Dodge Ram powerwagon with 12valve Cummings diesel (mechanical injectors) engine, Waren hubs, hydraulic auto tranny, and crank windows.
If you could have a new one for your trail rig, which would you select 6th gen 4runner or Dodge?

I'm fine with the turbo 4, it's been out for a while and I haven't heard anything bad about it. The 3.6 V6 in the previous generation, on the other hand, I wouldn't touch with a 10-ft pole.

The real place they dropped the ball is not offering an SUV version of this.

In this new world of overly complicated vehicles built with sub par quality I’m starting to think that warranties are much more important than in the past. Buying a Palisades or Telluride and trading it in at 99K miles might be the best financial decision for a new midsize suv.

I do agree it's an odd feature, but IMO not really that big of a deal, since it has an auto feature. My old Volvo has auto headlights, I haven't touched the headlight switch in years.

Going through a screen menu for HVAC and seat controls is what really grinds my gears.

Full size aren't allowed on some of the trails here, so the 6th gen.

Also, I'd never buy a vehicle without power windows unless it was purely a hobby car.

I'm not a big Mopar fan. But, if I wanted a Diesel truck, I'd most likely get a Cummins.

In 2002 we purchased a new Sequoia, I sold it to a buddy in 2005, he still has it, other than general maintenance and a timing belt/water pump swap every 100k, he's still driving it, no squeaks, rattles or rust and 635,000 miles.

So, for example, you can't turn the headlights off as a courtesy to a car parked in front of you without going through the head unit?

The new TNGA-F mid-sizers (and Honda’s too, not that they’ll be hitting the trail though) are pretty much 78" wide at the minimum with full-size sitting at 80” wide so would those 2” make much difference in this context?

Yep! At least The General gets to pocket a few cents per truck now!

The story has developed a bit - turns out the installer of the Icon Stage 3 2.5" lift did not install the diff drop (though surprising that one would be required) correctly and left off some bolts on the DD. That was the major contributing factor.

The other thing that came to light was the higher trim off road models, i.e. OR, Pro, and Trailhunter, come with different, stronger, CV axles. The OP has a Sport.

Yes, it would. All full size trucks are prohibited at an off-road park my group frequently visits.

Also, if I were ever to get a full-size trail vehicle, it'd probably be an old Bronco or Blazer.. preferably with power windows. :D

Congrats, this color grows on me more everyday.

Ha, and agree .. will say I've had my Tundra now for 15 mo and over 11k miles without a single issue.

This could happen but I'm done holding my breath and besides Toyota is making it right by replacing affected engines.

Hey, at least you're enjoying the ride everyday !!

Toyota is only doing as required by federal agencies. They are far from "doing the right thing". Why doesn't the recall include hybrid trucks when they have the same issue? It's because the electric motor can safely power the vehicle out of traffic.

But also, they are just replacing them with the same garbage design as before so what's the difference?

Ah yeah, forgetting the bolts to a diff drop is exactly the same as unbolting the front differential mount. So it makes sense something would fall off…I’m surprised it was the differential itself. If the CV fell off that means the diff probably got twisted up in the remaining frame mount on the crossmember. I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s more damage.

Smart man. The 4R is my first vehicle w/ power windows, locks…All Auto blew my mind!

    My 2016 w/ 100k has had zero problems not even a light bulb out after 100k. I think that’s cool. But a Sequoia w/ 600k+ that’s super cool. I wonder if 5th gen 4R’s will go 600+.

IMG_0605.jpg I am a no. I purchased a 2024 4Runner in September for a reason, love the Underground exterior & interior styling and the power is fine for me. She is rock solid.
I was all in on the 2025 willing to sell my Barcelona Red 2019 TRD Off Road Premium when I could place a deposit on one. But the more pics I saw and now the pricing of the 2025 I am 100% confident I made the right choice for me, not that I doubted the 2024 purchase.

I don't though, I'm sick of commuting in this thing.

I had the same reaction to the Tacoma. I sold mine in August of 23 with the intention of getting a 24, but after driving it and seeing the price hike and transmission problems, I decided against it. I figured the prices would be stupid for the 25 4runner, so I grabbed a 5th gen when I got the chance.

The output on the T24A is actually pretty modest. I'm not sure what people are worried about.
