44k for a 2wd sr5 is insane. No wonder they did the deal so quickly.

Insane as in too much? Seems like the asking price from a quick search, not a lot of 24's left out there.

Then you're as old as me and recall the now extinct W0X0F and when the AIM used to be the Airman's Informational Manual :bananadance:

    Oooh look, another mod.....
I think that price is fair, because it falls right in line with others on the market. I searched Auto Trader for "new" 4Runners nationwide. The ones that are $45k & under are 2wheel drive. Most are white and I think all are SR5's.

Wait until new 4Runners hit the lots and get ready to jump on a quality 5th gen when people upgrade. You'd be smart to peruse local lots and inquire (when you see a new 5th gen) before they get a chance to list a new trade-in.

You're comparing pricing now after the vehicle has gone out of production to before when they were still being shipped in. People were paying low 40s for TRD ORs earlier this year. Check the "what did you pay thread".

I was referring to the current market. Markets change from day to day; and in the current market that price is inline with other 4Runners out there. Is it right/fair/just? I don't know nor do I give a shit.

    It ain't my money.

A 4 banger with a Turbo is not what I would call an "upgrade". Sorry, old school 2024 4Runner is all I've wanted for many years.

I'm in northern New England for the holidays and noticed a red 2022 SR5 Certified Pre-Owned with 50k miles nearby; was thinking of taking a look and potentially just driving it down south if it's a good fit -- should I ask the dealer to put on the lift for me to check for rust? Any other rust pointers?

hopefully it's not too bad, only a couple winters old

I'd settle for photos of the undercarriage or going to stick your head underneath if you see it in person - you could probably get a good enough view as long as there's enough light.

A couple of winters, even with no frame protection, shouldn’t scare you off. Go check it out and decide, there’s no more 5th gens being made if that’s what you want. If you do buy it though, frame protection should be top of the list of to do items.
