What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

Well… I lived in SanDiego for 37yrs and this is Arctic to me!

 

Yeah, we're having a little cold snap too.

 

It was 61f here yesterday hi of 36f W/wind chill to 21f today.

 

It's funny how much the weather can change like that. I remember a few years ago we were having some particularly shitty weather in Phoenix (at least for us) and there was a large contingent of Bostonians here for something. Probably a bowl game. Anyway, by fluke of nature it was warmer in Boston than in Phoenix that week, like 56 to 42. People were not happy.

 

Besides Tufskinz who else makes mud flap deletes ?

 

Ark mud flap deletes seem to be the most popular/discussed.

Same here, but it was pouring all day yesterday.

 

Yeah it was raining past two days & some down pours yesterday. Water table here is WAY low from the non rain all summer & into fall till this week.

 

Mine are made by Revtek.

 

Oil and filter change. 4959 miles

 

Installed Ark Splash Guards. Pretty good hole alignment but pliable enough for where there wasn't.

 

Is there a hole there otherwise on a stock rig?

I should have taken a before and after. But, it's just slightly better coverage especially at the crest. I saw the gap and was concerned about all the salt spray finding a home in the engine bay. Granted, it will still get up there, just less.

 

Passed 5000 miles

 

Picked up a new-in-box Toyota cargo cover off FB Marketplace for cheap, P/N PT311-89100, hecha en Mexico

 

Got the Sherpa rack installed a couple weeks ago. First picture I’ve taken… at the local Whole Foods

 

Relocated / rewired reverse led pods onto crossmember with mostly stainless hardware. Ditched the full-size spare for aesthetics.

 

Drove the 2011 to daughters house to babysit the grandkids.

 

Drove mine to the airport, spending the week in The Keys.

 

How long is th process to wire up the reverse pods? This diode dynamics? Worth it? Thanks DJ!

 

Be cool if you got beefy recovery points welded on and ditched the hitch. Looks good without the spare!

 

Photons getting tuned…

 

I've done a few things since I purchased it November 29th.

First thing (and already mentioned previously) was the tuxmats that will forever be in every vehicle of mine.



Next was swapping over my Diode Dynamics SS3 pro driving lights that were in the fog location on my 3rd Gen Tacoma that I traded in for the 4runner. Changing fog lights on a limited 4runner is not very fun but I got er done. Thankfully the mounting bracket that worked in the Tacoma also worked on the 4Runner.



Then came the wheels and tires. Away with the highway tires on the stock 20s and in with 17 inch Ultra Crusher wheels with 265-70R17 Cooper Discoverer Road and Trail ATs





Finally, today, I tossed on a Brite Box so the SS3s will come on with the high beams and I also used the Carista app to make a few changes to the 4Runner. Next planned mod is ditch lights.
