Hey guys - brand new member. Was hoping to get some thoughts/opinions for a possible upgrade.

2019 TRD Pro. Stock head unit.

Question 1: do all model years of the Pro come with full JBL audio package? Specifically the interior speakers. The rear sub is JBL branded, wasn’t sure if all others are JBL.

Question 2: debating about upgrading the interior speakers. Maybe the Alpine or Kicker set that Trail Grid sells. Not sure I want to invest in head unit and/or amplifier upgrade yet. Would new speakers be a worthwhile (~$500) investment? Would they be much better than JBL stock.

Appreciate any insight or info for someone who has upgraded just their interior speakers and kept stock head unit. Would you do it again?

    Oooh look, another mod.....

Answer 1: Yes. The audio package is full JBL.

Answer 2: I have the Trail Grid Pro's, the Kicker setup, and they sound MUCH better than JBL's. I have compared mine against the stock JBL system and my Kicker-Trail Grid's blow them away. Note: I also have an amp hooked up to my setup, so it maximizes the full potential of the Kicker speakers. If you go this route, I highly recommend getting an amp. I also went with a Kicker amp. I kept my head unit stock.

Oh, one thing I had to do was add some kind of power inverter to the head unit. When I added the amp, the head unit couldn't provide enough power. I had the guys at Best Buy hook everything up, and the did a great job for a very low price. They told me about the inverter being needed. It wasn't a up sell either, they showed me how it didn't work until it was installed. The part was like $50.

Would I do it again? Yes. I would probably add a dedicated sub woofer. The 6x9 speakers do have a lot of bass and provide some good "thump".

Thanks for the info. Truly appreciated. I’m under the impression the JBL system is already amplified. Assume it is underpowered and could stand to be upgraded as well.

I would likely upgrade the sub as well but don’t want to add a dedicated box. I fill the back completely full with tools and can’t spare any space, lol. My back seats are folded down about 80% of the time as it is.

Just swapped out and trashed all eight of my stock speakers in a 20 Pro, JBL and all. Trash ! Try this, turn on you sterio and get down on a knee and listen to your door speaker. They suck . Had mine done at a shop in town and amp was part of it as well.
