2025 Toyota Land Cruiser's Base Price Increases $500 to $57,900

The same small price hike applies to the higher-spec Land Cruiser which starts at $63,900.

This is another reason I went with the 5th gen. I sold my Tacoma for almost what I paid for it 3 years and 70k miles later. I was set on getting a 2024 Limited hybrid, but they went crazy with the prices. I would bet the 4runner will have the same increases, plus I can't stomach a 4cyl turbo.

The good old days are gone. I miss being able to roll into a Toyota dealership, having a choice of every color and trim level in-stock on the lot, and walking out with a new vehicle at 10% off sticker. My first 7 Toyotas (4 Tacomas, 3 Tundras) I bought an in-stock vehicle at or very near to dealer invoice. My last 3 Toyotas (1 Tundra, 2 4R's) I had to really look for them, and/or wait for them.... and I paid MSRP for all of them. Now, not only is supply non-existent and dealer ADM's the norm, there is not a single new Toyota model I would even want to own (except for a 5th gen 4R).

I really hope it hurts their sales a lot. Doubt it, but one can hope.

it didnt hurt the tundra sales. we went from a 51k msrp (47k after discount) plat tundra to a 67k msrp (63k after discount) plat tundra (granted our trade in was very good for our 18 tundra to bring our otd price to 28k with only a 1k down payment). i wont have an issue going from my 41k limited 4runner to what ever this new plat 4runner will be.

after 11yrs i am ready to get a new 4runner and i already set aside a budget for it starting next fall :)

I think we likely live in a bubble. What we feel ought to happen based on what we perceive is the value isn't what consumer at large believes. Every single generation had its own detractors. I am not sure if it's the endowment effect but I certainly am in the camp of "5th gen >> 6th gen". In my mind 5th gen is quite possibly the best looking SUV ever made, possibly barring 3rd gen. I absolutely hate the way 6th gen looks even after so many months of seeing its pics.

I am realistic and open to the idea that what I believe is absolutely not what consumer at large believes. Which is the 6th gen will be an absolute home run. But I won't replace my 5th gen with my 6th gen.

I agree with you. I was excited about the new Tacoma. I loved my 2018 TRD Off-Road, it was fun to drive and held it's value very well. After driving the 2024 and seeing how Toyota had raised their prices, I decided to wait for the 6th gen 4runner. After seeing the pictures and the power terrain, I decided on the 5th gen. I love my PRO , no regrets.

i picked up my new 5th gen yesterday at a NJ Toyota dealer (I had to travel to find one this late in the game). They had a new Sequoia and a new LC in showroom. They were marked at $91k and $78k respectively with dealer add-ons and ADM. Crazy. FWIW, I thought the Sequoia looked pretty sharp. It was a Platinum with the off road package. On the other hand, the LC (in my humble opinion), looked terrible.... really cheap and insubstantial. It looked gimmicky to me... as bad as the Bronco.

The new GX comes with fake leather and almost identical interior room as the old version. I’m sure you can get real leather seats on a higher trim but they should offer it as standard option for almost $70k. Most of the Lexus owners never take it off-roading because it’s a 3 years lease.

When I was shopping in 2015, I was looking at 3rd gens initially due to budget. The 5th gen pics would pop up and I would see one around town occasionally, which I ended up with a good deal on my 2012. But, I distinctly remember thinking WOAH, that's a sharp truck, same as we all did when we saw the pickup on a flat bed in "Back to the future".
Except for the Sequoia, imo the new gens of all the models, don't have that WOAH factor at all. Design and styling is all subjective to a certain point, and the press will hype these things to no end, so Toyota will still sell plenty. There will probably be a lot of new to Toyota owners to pick up the percentage of loyalists like myself who can't afford the new price points anyway.

GX has Nuluxe on both entry trim levels. Premium and premium+ has the fake leather.
Lexus NuLuxe leather is an artificial leather upholstery that has been intended to appear exactly like genuine leather. But it’s not genuine leather.
The premium+ starts at $70k!!! If you think that it’s acceptable and a good deal you are the target audience. Go for it!

I normally dislike fake leather, but MB Tex upholestry held up superbly on one of my classic cars. Still looks like new after 40+ years in a convertible. Mercedes put that into what was a flagship vehicle at the time.

That type of material was made in the times when Mercedes-Benz could not afford failure. I hate my 4Runner’s cheap vinyl seats. The new era (after 2000s) MB Tex is not so durable. Usually rips after 8-12 years depending on the weight of the driver. I would rather pick a nice quality cloth seat over the vinyl.

I'm a big fan of most cloth interior options. The LR 1958 I was eyeballing at the dealership last week had a interesting cloth interior. At a quick glance, it seemed very substantive, textured, and relatively heavy weight..... almost like gaberdine. I would take it over the horrible 4R vinyl any day of the week.

cloth seats are great if you live in a mostly warm climate as you really dont need seat heaters.

colder climate areas the leather has an advantage for giving you heated seats.

    so its a trade off.

is nuluxe just a different branding of toyota's softex ?

Lexus NuLuxe is a synthetic leather upholstery material that's used in many Lexus vehicles. It's designed to look and feel like real leather, but it's more environmentally friendly, easier to maintain, and more affordable than genuine leather:

Eco-friendly: NuLuxe is made without producing Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) and produces 65% fewer CO2 emissions than other synthetic materials.

Durable: NuLuxe is more durable than other synthetic materials and can withstand wear and tear.

Easy to clean: NuLuxe is easier to clean than real leather and can be wiped with a cloth.

Lightweight: NuLuxe is lighter than real leather, weighing about half as much.

Affordable: NuLuxe is more affordable than real leather.

Vegan option: NuLuxe is a good option for people who want to avoid animal-based materials.

Most base Lexus models come with NuLuxe upholstery, while F-Sport editions and vehicles with the Luxury or Ultra Luxury packages have genuine leather seats.

When they advertise "generates around 85% fewer CO2 emissions and 99% fewer Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)" this but ignore that leather is a natural and bio-degradable component while SofTex remnants will be found in geological record by our distant descendants.

Those are all superficial reasons. The only reasons Toyota does something are 1) it's cheaper or 2) they can sell it for money. It's also possible Toyota is targeting the vegan user base the same way Subaru targets lesbians.

It’s a great option to those who believe in this marketing BS. I do not pay premium for plastic seats. Cloth seat can have heated seats as well.

The SR5 price allegedly staying where it is seems to be a pleasant surprise but with such a massive gap between that and any trims above it tells me it’s going to either be:

    A) Unobtanium (or marked up to make up the gap)
    B) Decontented to hell*
    C) Both

*Any bets on what’s removed? I’d guess the power seat, auto non-driver’s windows, sunglasses holder, maybe the option to select A-TRAC manually?

I don't think KDSS is available any more on 4runners, they put in the E-SDM for some trims starting at OR.

But yeah, 55k starting price for an ORP is a yowzer. That was the 24 TRD Pro starting price.
