What are you even talking about?

I was referring to the ridiculous idea that cell phone manufacturers or providers should be liable for people causing accidents while screwing around with their phones. Sorry if that wasn't clear.

    Oops.

I have an idea - you go first. Leave your phone at home so that the possibility of you causing an accident as a result of distracted driving is reduced.

So you are suggesting that anyone who has ever at fault in an accident that causes an injury should go to jail?

That makes absolutely zero sense. People make mistakes.

It's a little different if it is reckless, willful, or intentional.

Yes sir, mistakes should send you to jail for a couple of years, it will be good for you, it will change you for good. You will not make any more mistake when you come out

In 2022 there were 4,226,677 accidents across the US that resulted in property damage. That's about 85,000 per state averaged out. That's 231 people going to jail, per state, per day. Right...

If they weren't on their phone and were actually concentrating on driving, the death could have been prevented.

Unfortunately, some drivers just aren't responsible and have no regard for others. And yes, you're right...they do have armies of lawyers, all who belong at the bottom of the ocean in a burlap sack.

Uhh, mistakes are mistakes. With very few exceptions, do you really think people get into accidents on purpose?

If you send someone to jail for accidentally getting into an accident, now you are taking away their income and making them a burden to society.

    Absolutely ridiculous.

Edit: are we even talking about the same thing here? I am not talking about people who are being Reckless or ignorant. I am referring to accidents that are just that; accidents.

If they were not driving the vehicle death could have been prevented.
If their vehicles did not have wheels deaths could have been prevented.
How is this not a personal responsibility issue, and how is this even remotely cell phone company's fault?

Mistakes turn into crimes when others get hurt, regardless of intent.

In my book, you are free to do the shittiest things possible in your private life. Suicide, incest, drugs, you name it. But if your action harms another human, you are going to jail.

Did you injure someone and got away with it with your $500k liability limit? Sounds like it. That's why we need to send people to jail ;)

But doesn't the piss ant 2.5L 4 banger on the 6th gen produce more HP and torque than the 5th Gen 6 cylinder? Did I read that wrong in the others posts?
