That's what it is. The original 4Runner was basically identical to the Pickup/Hilux. It's like they're going back to its roots.

2.4L, actually. Yeah, no extra charge for way more usable power than the outgoing V6.

Wonder if it will be plagued with the 2024 Tacoma issues? Someone else can be the guinea pig. Sitting this one out for the next 5 years while Toyota sorts it out.

Yeah, I'm definitely not going to be the first to run out and buy it.

I need to see one in person before I make up my mind, but it doesn't look very attractive in the pictures.

I'm hoping they sort out the issues with the transmission and whatever else. I like the idea of a reasonably fuel efficient engine that makes more power, but still a little concerned about reliability at this point.

I had a question to ask, what does the "S" reference on your list of vehicles on the 09 Avenger SXT (S)

    Couldn't figure that one out.

    Thanks for the reply.

It’s a risk you are taking when riding a car. This is why you need insurance. If you’re so concerned about being rear ended, get a Volvo XC90. The law is there.

Civil Liability: The at-fault driver may be responsible for compensating the injured party for medical costs, lost income, and other damages.

Punitive Damages: If the driver’s behavior is deemed reckless (such as texting or watching videos), courts may award punitive damages to deter future conduct.

Criminal Charges: In severe cases, especially involving serious injury or death, the driver might face criminal charges for reckless or careless driving.

I sold my TRD Offroad Tacoma in August of 23 for $2000 less than I paid for it. I was excited about the 24 and had all intentions of buying one, between sticker shock and driving it I decided to look at the Frontier. Nissan dealers are all shady as f*ck. I happened to see a TRD Pro 4Runer on a lot and drove it, there was no comparison, the Japanese built 4Runner blows them both away. After researching the 6th gen I decided to find a a 5th gen while I could get one with low mileage for a reasonable price. I would guess that the price will jump like the Tacomas did, Toyota is pricing every day working people out of the market. A friend who has been a liflong Toyota fan just purchased a Ranger Raptor , it was $8000 less than a comparable Tacoma Pro.

Rear-ending someone and dislodging their spinal discs IS a crime. Laws are already in place.

There's a distinct difference between an accident and recklessness leading to an injury or death. Murder implies intent.

Killing someone without intent is manslaughter.

Not all accidents are caused by recklessness. A blown tire, striking an animal, or debris in the road, mechanical failure can all lead to collision. And, I'd hate to be categorized as a murderer if some unfortunate circumstance lead to me causing a fatal accident.

Manslaughter is a crime and you go to jail for it. You cannot get away with it. People get injured seriously in car accidents every day across the country, and most drivers at fault do not go to jail, that needs to change. Second ticket for distracted driving should automatically be a criminal offense

If the law enforcement catches you the 2nd time with your phone in your hand or you playing on the screen while driving, they should drag your ass to jail

I've seen some accidents over the last few weeks and I could not believe my eyes. I mean what the hell. And it happens during the morning commute, all of them are sober. But they end up in these horrific accidents, you cannot recognize the cars, they are damaged that bad. It takes some serious distraction to end up in such accidents. Whether there's an injury or not, I would ask these scumbags to show up in front of the judge to explain

Vehicular manslaughter is also a crime you can go to jail for.

But, you can't just put people in jail for getting in an accident.

So, we're going to blame manufacturer of the product for the people use it recklessly? That's right up there with gun manufacturers being forced to pay settlements to the families of murder victims.

Those companies have armies of lawyers, they will get away with it. They have all that in the user agreement. At the end of the day it's the responsibility of the user, the driver

Makes no sense. Did the cell phone cause death? Other than the idiot using cell phone how can anyone or anything else be responsible for such a death? maybe there is something more I am missing, but a vehicular death caused by a driver on phone is fault of the driver, not the cell phone.

So we wait until they kill someone so that we can throw them in jail then? What about they causing chronic neck pain and back pain to someone? They get away with that most of the times, it becomes a civil matter. All you can do is sue them for injury

I don’t mind the ‘24 Tacoma’s looks as much as when it first came out, so I wonder….

Is this one of those typical “it’s new, so I don’t like how it looks” pile-ons, and in another year while discussing over beers we’ll agree it looks fine…Or do we have a full-blown, code-red 2003 Gen4 situation on our hands?

It is not the manufacturers' fault if people act stupid. You can't blame them if some idiot forgets to put his swaybar back on, gets on the highway, injures himself and others. You might be able to sue Jeep or Toyota if the swaybar wasn't connected by the system when you pressed the button, but it is not their fault if things are manual. No wonder these companies come up with electronic nannies to protect themselves from the stupid
