What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

I've been using JP-7 fuel exclusively in my 4Runner.

 

$2.60 here in the greater Charlotte area.

 

It’s $2.85 in NYC which is apparently one of the most expensive areas in the US.

 

Gave a wash after a long time (My excuse, cold weather)

With the arrival of winter, the missus went in search of the steering wheel heater switch on our 2024 Pro. Turns out that her height and steering wheel angle combined to make it invisible.
Once I showed her where it is, she was very pleased.
Today's plan is to take advantage of some above-zero temperatures to give it a wash, the dry it with the leaf blower.

 

One cold day a week or two ago I went fumbling for the steering wheel heater switch... accidentally poked the start/stop button. EEK!

Thankfully, nothing bad happened, but I surely got a panel full of warnings for a moment!

 

That was my yday. LOL.

 

The Shell station not far from me was $2.93 yesterday. Seems to be rather high for the area, yet cheaper than the city I work in (RI). I find the prices really depend on the area. You'll get robbed at any gas station on or next to a highway. Seems I have far cheaper options around me though.

 

I almost did that yesterday while driving down the mountain. Needless to say, glad I didn’t press the button but I was very close.

I’m now wondering if I can move that switch to the left side. Or look for a flip cover that I can install over the start/stop button.

 

I believe you drive a lot of miles. I don’t believe you have done it on the same set of tires. Also cracks and dry rot are from age not miles.

 

I like this idea.

 

Installed the ROF logo plate. Then went out for some groceries.

 

Do you have a picture of how much the tire blocks the back window? And what size tire is on it? I'd appreciate a side shot too if you have it.

I just bought one since they were on sale - gonna replace my SSO hitch mounted solution (will be on sale here for heavy discount in a couple of months when my relentless arrives)

 

Nothing too crazy today, house chores and now a little time to work on the SSC1 harness…

 

I did the same thing on Thanksgiving driving back from my daughter's house. I image it might be a common thing for folks to do - at least once.

 

I’ll get one from the inside tomorrow. It’s really not that bad. I hardly ever use the rear view mirror, just the sides. Tire is a 35x12.50r17.

 

Thanks! Confirms my expectations and fears. Sits nice and close to the hatch, which I like, but sits high and blocks more of the back window.

I assume the tire height is fixed? I'll be running a smaller tire but don't think it'll make that much of a difference. I use my rearview a lot but may have to rely on the anytime rear once this is in place

 

Look into getting a wolfbox. I just installed one and it works great.

installed some new splash guards... while bitching about the company that did my suspension rebuild - they not only didn't see a problem and kept the rusty lines, but also didn't bother to replace these guards - simply threw the remains away and considered it job done.

 

Finally made it up North. SS3 Pros are incredible for driving on dark mountain roads. Completely changed the car (now I need more DD lights).

 

Stared at some Hella Black Magic 3.2" cubes, my Christmas list, and my budget.

Gonna have to brag a little to Santa, I guess....

 

Picked up the Christmas Tree from the local Christmas Tree Farm.

 

I tried the previous model but found that it slightly interfered with the sun visor due to the camera offset. Is the 950 the same way?

 

Washed my rig and installed these TufSkinz mud flap delete…I really like them. Looks way better without the rear mud flaps.
