Correct me if I’m wrong but if you have a problem with your low beam headlight on a 2023 4Runner, you can’t just replace the bulb, you have to replace the entire headlight assembly??? Come on now, who at Toyota came up with this?? This is nuts!! Someone please correct me if I’m wrong!

You are correct. You will need to replace the entire housing.

Same story to aftermarket LED housings. If anything fails you need to replace the entire housing.

Another example of why I'm glad to be in a '19.
Also a follow up that the Lasfit LED kit I recently placed in my truck is working well. Great light, nobody flashing me...
Looking forward to checking them for the first time this weekend up in the dark DARK DARK woods up by our cabin.
Those woods are loaded with elk and it's always a bit white knuckle arriving up there after dark.

Yup. That's like all car manufacturers now not just Toyota.

I upgraded my 2017 4Runner halogen headlights with HID bulbs to the factory 2024 OEM Bi-LED headlights and the difference is night and day. Well worth it. You might have issues down the road but most LED headlights from OEM manufacturers are reliable.

I have driven a 17 before and my 23, at least on low beam, is a huge improvement.

    High beam however, eh.

I think the circa 2021(?) SR5 and OR with the LED low beam and halogen high beam is where the sweetspot is.

Yes. I would like to swap in Toyota LEDs but for now, I am letting the cost deter me. Got the Lasfit on holiday pricing so for $140 I gave it shot. So far so good. And with my trips into the mountains I wanted to try something for better light.

Same with the LED tail lights for the past decade :notsure: Toyota has done the testing and validation to ensure a reasonable level of reliability.

Toyota is typically conservative. If you see a "new" piece of technology on a 4Runner, it means it had already been in use on other brands for 5-10 years.

^Lol, adaptive cruise control added 19 years after first appearance in LS430. Not sure how many years the heated steering wheel was lagging. Still missing are direct injection, gears 6-8, and digital gauge cluster.

Auto headlights in my 06 GTO and as far back as the 1952 in certain GM offerings. 2019 4Runner? Nah!

^Limited has had auto headlights since at least 2010, from what I see in the wiring diagram manual. 4th gen may have had them in certain trims, too.
