    Laziness of what?
I never had rust concerns about any vehicle I ever owned both American made and Japanese made until I owned a Toyota. Now I have a Tacoma and 4Runner both with rusty frames and a constant need for frame inspections and coatings. If anyone is lazy it’s Toyota for not providing a proper coating on their frames.

Me too. Definitely something worth paying for.

Yep, same -- I never had to worry about this with any other vehicle (German, Swedish, American), and was a bit shocked to learn of it while we were discerning our purchase. The one thing I would change is to galvanize or otherwise coat / seal the frame from the factory, it's madness that they don't (especially considering how long the rest of the vehicle lasts).

Also especially since Toyota has had to pay to replace so many frames over the years.

I agree. My guardian angel was on my shoulder when I bought my 4R in 2014. I'd poked around on forums but had no idea rust was an issue b/c as you say, it had never been before when I bought used. The frame was and is still clean. Granted, I had a mechanic check it out and I'm sure he would have said something, though he did miss that the 4WD wasn't working. Discovered that on the drive back to the dealer, who ended up replacing the actuator. I asked my mechanic about the 96K mileage, to which he replied, "On a 4Runner, that's just getting started." Ten years later, at 266K, I'd have to agree. :)

I was told at my purchase which had 165k that it was just broken in. Lol
I had two spots on my frame repaired.. i figure as long as I keep it plugged full of any of the recommended spray oils i should be able to keep any more surprises from showing up.

How come the lazy Americans can make vehicles that don’t rust.
Also I have no idea what laziness has to do with rust. Please explain. Also what’s with this hatred towards Americans?
