So only the Pro and Trailhunter are getting the 33" Toyos? The black fender flares on the OR look terrible to me. If I was going to buy an OR it would need to be black to hide that contrast between body panels and flares.

Overall I really do like the looks though.... I truly wish they offered it with their non-hybrid V6 TT. I just can't stomach the hybrid/battery thing. I hope that as these hit the market the supply/demand situation with the GX will level out which is probably where I'll end up.

 

^Going by Tacoma option packaging, the OR hybrid may get 33s stock, with 18" wheels like the Pro and Trailhunter. All trims should be able to fit 35s with minimal work (unbolting a mudflap bracket on the cab mount).

The hybrid system has been the most reliable part of the TNGA-F vehicles so far... The 3.4L TT's main bearing recall is well publicized now. Prior to that, the electronic wastegate was frequently troublesome (and a cab-off operation to replace).

 

That's how it's always been. Higher trims get bigger rims/tires.

Does the TRD Off Road Premium have the black gloss trim over the wheels like the TRD Off Road does? Not a fan of that and have seen some videos showing that they will probably scratch easily.

I watched it yesterday, and yeah dude, let’s hope it’s pre production issues but that plastic interior looks cheap compared to the mix of textures and soft and different pattern hard plastics in the Gen 5.

 

^It can also change a few years in during a facelift, like it happened with 5th gen. 2010-2013 models had notably cheaper interior materials than later year 5th gens.

 

It's looking like the more expensive the trim gets, the cheaper it looks. The plastics, etc. are looking like things you get on a base model 96 Ford Ranger.

And, imo, those OR wheels are FUGLY AF!!!!

 

Just at a quick glance, we can see that a ‘25 TRD OR (non-premium) versus a ‘24 will lack power front seats, flat-folding rear bench, painted fenders/door handles, hood struts, and faux hood scoop. It also provides far less soft-touch points throughout the cabin, and has a lower overall sense of fit & finish. Now that’s just the cost-saving we can see in a short video…who knows what bargain materials and parts are lurking out of plain sight.

Including destination, the ‘24 is $46 grand. However, the expectation is that the ‘25 TRD OR will cost significantly more. By now, we’ve seen this movie from Toyota a few times already.

TNGA-F = paying more, getting less.

 

The tumble seats and cup holders/arm rests for a third row that doesn’t exist really annoy me. It’s going to be a high $50K vehicle and they can’t design its own seats? It seems like they are just grabbing crap from the parts bin. Same with the back of the new landcruiser.

 

Tinkerer did a good job on a new video detailing some honest-to-goodness mechanical improvements on the OR Tacoma that Toyota didn’t bother to promote. Things like high-angle CV axles, wider lower control arms, the swaybar disconnect, and flatter undercarriage with no exhaust or transfer case hanging low to get caught anywhere. Software wise, they figured how to make the multi terrain/A-Trac stuff work better with no hammering noises. No reason the 4runner wouldn’t be the same in all these regards. At least those are beneficial improvements of the vehicles base design.

One thing I did not like…Tinkerer noticed the thickness of the steel used on brackets and tabs (for trailing arms, shock mounts etc) is substantially thinner. Like really thin. He dragged the trailing arm mounts over some terrain and it really rolled the steel over on the edges.

All things being equal, for a 4runner, the interior being cheaper isn’t that big of a deal for me, or the manual seats to tell you the truth. But, they are not equal because it’s a substantial price bump, for less.

It all seems like quite the mixed bag.

 

Wow, look at this guy, absolutely thrilled about this model. I mean, really? It’s dull, feels like it’s made of discount materials, and somehow manages to be a downgrade from even a Gen 4. Maybe next time he should try using and testing sunscreens instead of vehicles—he clearly needs that much more than anything, let alone a 4Runner.

 

He won’t say anything too negative because he might not get invited to the next reveal.

If he doesn’t have the balls to make an honest review he needs a new job. This is why I don’t really trust in only reviews. I like to form my own opinion.

 

I just watch his videos to see the new vehicles. I don’t listen to his opinions much. It’s weird that he only reviews Toyotas. He has no baseline to even compare anything to.

 

I agree, just watched it, daily driver is a 2008 4th gen Urban Runner and i would rather have its interior than that 2025 silver OR he video'd, its blah as hell more like a base model.
Wifes daily is a 2023 TRD Sport and its WAY nicer than that 2025 silver OR he video'd
Definitely dont like the LandBruiser black box on the tailgate that says TOYOTA, its so blah. All the plastic is blah.

 

The crazy part is that it’s probably going to cost mid $50K for that pile of plastic with no power seats, goofy tiny screen, etc.

 

Same driveline as the new Tacoma….not interested.

 

This isnt a review.. it is an overview. I wish youtubers would wise up and realize that a review requires extensive use of a product. An overview is an unboxing or walk around.

Consider this: Gen 4 featured durable, high-quality cloth or genuine leather. Then Gen 5 arrived with cheaper cloth and faux leather, marketed as “better for you”—easier to clean, more durable, and maintenance-free. Now, imagine what Gen 6 might bring.
