    Oooh look, another mod.....
I was at my local dealership for the free 15k Toyota care service and spotted the new 4th Gen Tacoma Trail Hunter, and while it looks really cool, tough and nice, check out the price and market adjustment!

It’s at Vandergriff Toyota in Arlington for those wondering “”Hey which dealership should I not buy a car from?”

The service dept here is excellent, but I would never buy a car from them.

Figured on that trim, roof rack should be an"included" part of the package no that type of an add-on

Market adjustment. Still? Oh-hhhh Kay-yyyy. No thanks.

Maybe they are prepping or anticipating for a bird flu scamdemic.

2024 Tacomas are already way over-priced as it is. I do not see ‘24s out on the street very frequently at all.

Can’t blame the dealer too much..Surely anyone crazy enough to pay $68k for a 4 cylinder Tacoma would just as soon pay $75k, no?

TH & Pro aside, the real ripoffs are happening at the lower trims, even considering discounts.

$75K for a midsize truck.
It’s just a mass produced Tacoma with a bunch of shit bolted to it. WTF. I hope no one is dumb enough to buy it.

I almost want to call the dealership to ask the difference between Zaktek and Clear Guard, just to hear the bullshit sales pitch.

Also I just realized there is a THIRD paint protection on the manufacturer build sheet. Wow this truck's paint is going to last until 3025.

One-at-this-price stripper. Bought new 34 yrs ago, a $13K leftover. Added Detroit TruTrac, 1”rear spring spacer and “pinstripes”… Factory AC kit and roof rack bought at dealer cost at time of purchase, still blows ice cold 32yrs later. 2022 AG ORP all stock.
-$20k and it still would be overpriced.

I wonder if that $75K includes an upgrade to decent transmission at least? Toyota is overplaying their hand IMO. They seem to be doing what Honda did 15 years ago - reduced quality and higher prices. That model works for a period of time, but Toyota is getting a reputation for rolling out products that are subpar. The Tacoma with the transmission issues and other bugs. The Tundra with 100K plus motors that have to be replaced on brand new trucks the the myriad of other issues and recalls. It’s a shame, we’re going to be limited to throw away cars here in North America vs what’s available globally (Hilux, real Land Cruiser, etc).

For $75K you could get a fully restored or restomod classic truck. It would actually increase in value over time and turn more heads. Getting attention is really why people buy something like a trailhunter anyways.

"New" is relative. The VIN decodes to a 2024 model, which would normally be discounted by this time of year to make room for 2025s.

Interesting! The failing transmissions are made in Japan!

Ya know what, no thanks. I'd rather buy a base model reg cab 4x4 from the 2010s with no cruise or power anything vs. that monstrosity. Cause get what? You can still find some on Carfax (or other sites like that). And it's just you and one other person. At least the 2.7 4-cylinder is a proven powerplant.

I'd like to see the other half of that label. The MSRP is $63k and some change seen at the bottom left of the photo. Then the regional kicks in another $3k. Are they charging twice for some of those items? And then you get the dealership BS add-ons. So, they charge twice for some garbage of paint protection? On top of what the regional put on (supposedly). Then charge for pinstripe that I can't see, and "nitrogen" in the tires. Or is that an either-or thing? Window tint that is not on the truck (the rear is from the factory). I'll give them benefit of the doubt and say that they'll do it after the sale. Doesn't really matter because $500 for two windows is an outright rip-off. Little over twice what it should cost.

Are people really this stupid? I keep hoping that the shadier these a-holes get the worse it is for them. My grandest dream is that the NA dealership model goes away, but it won't.

I like to report these people on the manufacturer's social media with a link. And then leave them a crappy review. Again, nothing will come of it, but it makes me happy.

Edit: Not even on their website....

I brought up this same thing in the TacomaWorld thread… I referenced a 2015 TRD OR was 32k new and i saw a 2024 TRD OR for 57k on my local dealers lot. I got bashed because every fan boy was screaming inflation. But even with the inflation calculator the new 2024 TRD OR was 10k overpriced. People got butt hurt.

Dealerships charge this much because idiots like them keep paying it.

Not to mention $57k for a midsize truck made for the common man is ridiculous.

I have had 2 tacos (took one to 170k and the other to 270k) and 1 4Runner (currently sits at 80k).

i feel the butt hurt people in that thread are the same ones that believe it’s perfectly fine to go 10k on an oil change

$500 for air and a pinstripe. Too funny. Crazy price for window tint. I think i paid $250-$275 for ceramic tint on 2 front windows 20% in April 2022 from my local guy. What a joke on these “mark ups”.
