What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

In other news I added a Lasfit Pro DC LED kit for my low beams this morning. Easy to do despite kind of crappy instructions.
Remains to be seen if this will end well or poorly.

Those are the fancy lastfit ones.
Maybe bit more effort is needed that their less expensive ones.
Looks like they have couple of coupons already listed on the website. When I buy a set last time for my friend I used browser plugins to find coupons. If I'm not mistaken we found a whopping 20% off coupon. I also love the fact I can use AmazonPay from their site so I don't have to enter payment details on another site.

Joined the full sized spare gang



(I'm still in the camp that a full sized spare is not needed in most cases, but my OEM spare tire was eight years old so I figured a replacement/upgrade was in order)

 

Tekton split beam. Great price and accurate

 

How are the attached and when do you go into production?

 

I have the Tekton 1/4. Is the split beam better to use than the micrometer?

Yes split beam is more accurate. Tekton’s torque wrenches are all pretty good. For another mid-tier option, go with Icon from harbor freight. Project farm did a review on them and they came in almost at the top.

 

Spent most of the day putting some leather seat cover on. I really like these. They go with the red/black theme I have going inside Casper. Not exactly hard to do, but def labor intensive. Got them from KTJO4x4.

^^ Very nice seat covers! If you know a little old lady with an embroidery machine, this is a nice touch.

 

I hope you start doing a 5 tire rotation, otherwise this tire will sit for 8yrs also and go to waste.

 

I'm conflicted because the cost of another matching wheel is more than the cost of another tire.

What was kinda funny is that Discount Tire ordered their cheapest AT to mount there. When I got there the tire was spec'd at 64 pounds. I was like no Sir, I don't need that. So they put this Wildpeak on for the same price. I was trying to get some bullshit full sized spare, and got a really nice tire for the cheaper price.

 

As I'm out due to hand/elbow surgery, I had a (somewhat) local shop install my set of Talon's Garage skids. I didn't want to wait the 2-3 months before I could handle weight again so had Apex Overland do the install. If you're near central NC and need some work done, these guys are legit and specialize in Toyota.


And they even had this bad boy parked out front -

 

Damn! That's great. Although the two things that have fused have the installed in-line, but I like that. I will save it.

 

Ordered some Etsy splash guard shims to hopefully help the flapping/squeaking.

But also some Toyota style swag (I will try to convince my wife to put the stickers on the 4R ) from DRTY KID

 

I don't, sadly. If my Memaw was still alive, she'd prob do it for free. (She left for Heaven in 2006). There's prob shops in town that do stuff for reasonable rates.

But def like the idea.

 

I spotted this sweet lookin' rig in traffic today. I gotta admit, the retro stripe and KO3's on it (or KO2's?) really make it look tough and cool.

 

I'm glad that its got Toyota on the side b/c I couldn't tell it from any other box truck.

 

@vthoky , got the rims and the tires ordered earlier in the week installed today, huge improvements all around! Only one small Murphy hit, 1 tire arrived with a manufacturer defect in the sidewall that wasn’t visible until install so they have me rocking an in house brand brand new tire that almost matches while we await a replacement. Feels good enough that if I source a matching spare during the wait I may just have them put it on the spare.

Huge shout out to discount tire, they killed it in customer service and communication.

Now I just need to find a home for the 20s that came off the 4Runner and the day will be complete.

 

drove kids in 4R to last soccer practice of the year, they received gold medals and soccer balls. now the boys are helping rinse truck at wand wash. well, they’re mostly running around in circles

Which tires did you decide on?

I just ordered the same light. Are they brighter than the stock (site says it is). Just want to know from personal experience.

 

Got a massive leak in the washer fluid reservoir. Turns out the hose swelled up and slid off the rear pump:



I cut off the swollen portion and reattached the hose to the rear pump, then put zipties on both pumps. $0 fix:

 

I believe it’s just more focused rearward but I just now put it on so I haven’t driven at night. I bought it to be brighter and it adds some contrast to the wing wang.

 

You got me with the Coopers. They really sealed the deal looks wise seeing them in person on yours. Very happy with them so far today, even just at 100 miles in.

 

Nice! I've got about 2k miles on these so far. No off-road or bad weather with them yet, so I can't really judge them on that, but beyond that I'm very happy with them.
