Why? What other unnecessary maintenance do you do? Replace the battery every year just in case?

Is it because of dirty oil or bad engineering?

We’re worrying about a problem that was fixed in 2013? Why? It’s almost 2025.

Because some people like to take care of their trucks and prefer to minimize known and well-documented causes of mechanical failure.

Back during 90s I foolishly believed BMW's "lifetime transmission fluid" promise. Unsurprisingly, transmission suffered from an early catastrophic failure out of warranty. I got a low-miles replacement, flushed it prior to installing and then drain and refill ATF every other year. No need to flush if you drain it regularly and it is not a big deal if some fluid stays in the converter and mixes with the new one. Transmission still had no issues when the car was retired after 22 years and over 350K miles of service. If rust didn't kill it, it would still probably be on the road (another lesson learned - you can't stop rust once it starts, only slow down)

Original transmission lasted 70K and 8 years. It cost me $1500 to replace (2700 in today's money).
Replacement transmission lasted 280K (plus about 20K in the original vehicle). It cost me about 7 x 100 = $700 in fluid changes.

You decide which one is cheaper for your ownership duration. I know I will be drain and refilling every automatic transmission I own every 2 years because it saves me money and hassle.

Unnecessary maintenance.. hmm probably just sharing thoughts on the forums. This seems to be unnecessary.

i have taken 2 toyotas 4.0L v6 to 270k so my personal maintenance schedule seems to be doing its job. Preventative maintenance /= toyota recommended maintenance

If you think VW is bad check out Range Rover and how bad their issue is with a 10k change.

Don’t you think that if it was even remotely necessary that Toyota would have transmission fluid replacement on their maintenance schedule? You don’t think they would want that extra revenue for their service departments?

Imagine how many more miles you could have gone if you changed all the fluids once a week?

You mean like the master tech that said to change your PCV valve or the one that said to check the VVT-i screens?

I’m a master tech too or at least I can say whatever on the internet.

So you think they are using a sound stage with a fake garage while working on cars and even started a business just to say they are a mechanic but really are not?

so by chance do you think the moon landing is fake too?

he can’t state any facts. He has stated multiple times that that YouTuber and others are fake mechanics and only do it for ad revenue clicks.

Sure if that helps you sleep better. All I’m trying to say is use the videos as a guide, not as fact. If you can’t do that then there is no helping you.

Funny thing is most say to use their videos as a guide, not a how to.

I have never seen you say to use it as a guide. Every post I have seen from you is that you state it’s not needed. That’s not saying use it as a guide and not a fact. If you did others would have more respect for your post. As I said before the assumption now has to be your a troll and you do it to see if you can cause others issues when they are asking for help.

Not needed as it extra steps that aren’t needed. Did you know about anything those videos were talking about before you watched and driven a vehicle that never had issues?

Using the words “Not Needed” is not the same as use it as a guide. Again you’re still lying and you know you are. It just seems now that you got called out for it your trying to make it sound like you didn’t. So the question to you for any post should be are you lying now or were you lying then.

    Doesn't need any
Anyone that states that oil should be changed at a specific mileage is spreading miss- information.

The proper intervals depend on how the vehicle is operated. One thing nobody seems to grasp is that by changing the oil more often that is necessary you're introducing more chances for stripped drain plugs, damaged oil filter housings and the like.

If it ain't broke you can't fix it.

Does anyone really think that a car that is driven 5 MI at a time and shut off before the oil has reached operating temperature or driven in constant stop and go traffic will really need the same service intervals as a car gets started up and driven for at least 20 minutes before shutdown and or driven on rural highways. And of course there are longer intervals involved too.
