First tow with the newly installed Magnuson Supercharger on my 24 TRD ORP.

Only about 3100lbs total, but the passing power was like night and day up some grades in the Reno-Tahoe area.

Wicked! Still deciding if I want to SC mine, or a built IAG engine for my Subaru.

    Oooh look, another mod.....

I've often wondered about this. Will this just making passing power better or will it ALSO increase the amount I can tow? I know my tow rating is based off a few things, not just the engine. But if I did have the right class tow hitch and blah blah blah.... Would a SC bump me up to say, 8,000lbs?

No. Your tow capacity is fixed. The SC just gives you a bit more HP and that's all. Translates to moving a bit faster when you are trying to pass on the Hwy.

Or not needing to be in 3rd gear 5000 RPM trying to climb a grade. Stock 4runner trying to tow is only reasonable flat terrain in my opinion. I guess it's what your expecting out of it. All that I have seen in any kind of inclines are struggling big time.

Must definitely be nice for towing. Less gear hunting.

Tow capacity is mostly cooling. The more you tow the hotter your transmission gets. And engine. Typically the trim with a much higher tow capacity simply just has a larger transmission cooler or even just a transmission cooler at all.

You could add an extra transmission cooler and "safely" tow a lot more.

Of course there's a lot of other factors.

I agree. I wouldn’t exceed towing capacity. Braking/cooling are major factors. The SC allows you to pass much easier on those steeper grades. For me, it’s definitely compensated for my taller/heavier MT tires.

Now there's the main statement right there, not just towing on grades but at elevation too! Congrats on the Maggie, I'm at the 4000' elevation now and it's right at the tipping point for power on grades for me. Going over several of the Sierra passes the past couple of years (especially Tioga!) I would have loved to have a Maggie!

Did you let Magnuson do the install?

Yes. I drove down to Ventura for a few days and they installed it in Two. Great little road trip. Magnuson was great to work with and gave me a full tour of their facility.

I didn't know they offered install until your pic of the facility. Seems like it would be tough to find a better expert install than them. Thanks for sharing your feedback.

Bilstein 8112 lift Magnuson Supercharger YotaWerx Stryker+ tune Sherpa Crestone rack Lots of other small stuff
If you decide to look into a tune I did a write up on it here: https://www.4runners.com/threads/ott-vs-stryker-tune-thread-to-end-all-threads-hopefully.42174/

I just felt the Magnuson tune was too conservative for me. For towing getting the power band easier would be better since you pretty much have to floor it to get passing power with their tune. That and the throttle control with the OTT tune is significantly better as well.
