With the significant delay in the 6th Gen 4Runner and Toyota ceasing production of the 5th Gen, it’s likely they’ll run out of inventory soon.

Currently, only 260 new 5th Gen 4Runners are available for sale on Autotrader nationwide. If the 6th Gen doesn’t launch until early next year, the value of the current 5th Gen will likely increase due to limited supply.

If the money was right and the cash offer was higher then what you paid for, would you trade it in for something else? May be a Land Cruiser or something lol

One-at-this-price stripper. Bought new 34 yrs ago, a $13K leftover. Added Detroit TruTrac, 1”rear spring spacer and “pinstripes”… Factory AC kit and roof rack bought at dealer cost at time of purchase, still blows ice cold 32yrs later. 2022 AG ORP all stock.
The two dealers in my area, one medium size and one large only have used 4Runners at ridiculous prices.

Nope, bought it to keep. That being said, if I could walk away with what I paid and enough to buy something new, I’d have to.

Taxes, other changing costs will likely eat up any potential gains not to mention what I’ve spend on maintenance, accessories, etc. (and it’s still stock)

I’m not too keen on going newer or upmarket either currently, if my current vehicle got totaled out I’d think hard about spending as much for its replacement and probably would sooner look at an Xterra or slightly older 5th gen than an equivalent replacement.

We value these machines highly but I don’t think the overall market will follow suit beyond keeping value relatively steady.

just bought a 2018 SR5P for $1k less than I paid for my 2019 SR5 when it was new. The 5th gens seem to be holding their value pretty well....I hated to pay that much for a truck that's been in service for basically 7 years but there's nothing else I want model-wise. and she's purty.

I’m going to set a reminder in my phone for January to run my van through Carmax and Carvana and all those other services. See what kind of quote I get

Carmax forced me to schedule and appointment to get a qoute.. on top of all my personal information. Seems like a scam to get personal information and force you to come on the lot. Thankfully, i put fake information other then my vin.

Autotrader is not reliable. If you go to the listed dealer website for availability it will say 0 available. Autotrader does not often
update its database so I will say there are probably very few new 24's available if at all.

Carvana typically offer the same as Carmax and sometimes more on desirable vehicles, and does not require an appointment.

If I was able to sell for the right price and found the right GX550, I’d probably sell.

This is an intriguing question. My initial answer is no because I bought this vehicle for the long term and its everything I wanted. However, if prices went crazy (I doubt they will) there may come a point I would consider it.

In basic economics we are willing to buy something when the value of the money is exceeded by the value something brings us. For my 4R, I would say the value it personally provides me is...70K. I value it more than the 48K I paid for it otherwise I would not have bought it. If I could sell it for 70k, sure.

Even with the void of 4Rs left by Toyotas unfortunate fumble of a new model roll out I highly doubt prices will skyrocket. In today's world who knows what will happen though.

Hint to Nissan, bring on the Xterra and make a ton of money now!

Just for shits and giggles I entered my 23' ORP w/8,500 miles into Carvana and they offered $45,600. That expired and I renewed the offer and it went up to $46,000! I paid $46,200 13 months ago...lol. Talk about resale value!

I have just under 6200 miles on my ORP purchased 9/13/23 here in Detroit. The sticker was $49.429.00 and I got it for $46,227.00 plus tax and $260.00 doc fee. What could you replace it with?

    Owned Many Toyotas - Past
I just bought a 2024 2WD, SR5, White, Nerf Bar Steps, Black Badging & etc. for $45.1K in Atlanta area. (No Tax)

The 4runner had a lot of that SET Crap (plastic wrap and oil changes) on it ... but I didn't have to pay for it. I do my own old changes, even if free at Toyota.

Sold my 2023 RAV4 Premium to private party with 9,000 mile for $890.00 less than I paid for it. Got a good deal on that RAV4 when I bought it.

In Georgia, injured military at 100% don't have to pay car taxes.

2024 4Runners are hard to find here unless you spend $56K and up and those are getting rare now.

I’m the obligatory old “in my day…” guy who shakes his head that anyone is paying $30K+ for a vehicle. I bought my 2007 Sport at 96K miles in 2014 for $19K out the door. If somebody offered me that, I’d definitely think it over. If I took it, I’d find a fixer-upper 4th Gen, use everything I’ve learned over the last 10 years to deck it out, and pocket the difference.

Quoting myself here.... I researched AutoTrader, eBay motors, and facebook marketplace since I made that post. Shit, Carvana offering me $46k is a joke - Plenty of 2023 TRD ORP's like mine with low miles going for $50-$52k in my area! Thats NUTS to me, but I am still mulling over selling and literally cashing out seeing that I paid $46200, and putting that little bit of money into a 2020 or so TRD ORP or a Limited, which are going for $25-$36k in my area, depending on mileage. Who knows, I might be able to pick up ANOTHER Gen5 and sell it for more than I paid, if this is the trend!
