when I was researching, I read about more leaking issues with bilstien so I didn’t go with them, seemed like the Ironman was liked in Australia and in the Lexus world. Could not find much in the 4Runner world.

I run some logging roads a few times a year, so I wanted something that designed for some speed, and couldn’t see spending $$$$$ and needing to shut down for frequent rebuilding of the shocks.

interesting. I went with Bilsteins for their lack of issues on and off road.

I have Ironman FCP on my Limited and ride quality is very good, much better than my factory TRD Pro Fox both on pavement and gravel road. Flex is also better than TRD Pro Fox when I tested back to back at a spot near my house that has a rock to climb. But haven't tested in a real technical trail. But many here say they are made in China, so the reliability would be at the bottom.

I have Alumas on my Tundra and no issues at all. They are 5 years old now.

All shocks can have issues including the top guys like kings fox etc you can drop 8k on kings and get leaks just like Toyotas and 4Runners can have issues brand new from the factory the only difference is icon is like ram and toytech is like a ford 6.4 with those it’s not a matter of if my suspension will shit the bed but when

^Icons have been bulletproof in my experience (and folks in my Toyota off road club). Incidentally our trails have tore up several OME and Eibach shocks. Haven't seen a failure with Fox or Dobinson in our group, though both rust easily after just a year.

Update: Ended up replacing with Bilstien 6112s and 5160s in rear. I went 2.5" front and 2" rear -same as before. It rides awesome and feels super tight. I found a great 4x4 place and this guy was fantastic and knew his stuff and was great to work with and also recommended this setup as he's done it on many 4Runners. Just wish I would have known this sooner, but hey live and learn! Also check out pic of the Toytec Coilover fail. He said the install and everything looked good and it's a strange place for a shock to fail...

nice!! Glad to hear it all worked out. Im running a similar set up to yours but i only have 5100s in rear. Let us know after you put some miles in the 5160s. I might just swap mine out next year.

did you take any pictures of the rear shocks before you put the tires back on?
