    That’s a great description, I love it.

It looks fine to me though. Like someone said “make a bigger, more futuristic Renegade” and for what the goal is, I suppose it’ll do.

Looks fine to me. I prefer that look over the 6th Gen. What’s it have for a power train?

I missed it, what vehicle is this? Those external hinges look like they are for removable doors. It would look kind of funky without doors.

Jeep Recon EV. It'll have removable doors.

Guaranteed I hit my knee on that lower hinge as I walk past.

that's a nice feature to have in the event of a lithium ion battery fire... makes for a quick exit.

Those hinge mounts also look like a good spot to put the jeep leg stirrups that seem to be so popular.

The headlights seem like they would take the “angry eye” treatment pretty well.

Not sure about the overall look though without doors. To my eye it only looks good on 2 door wranglers. A 4-door without doors looks mostly looks like a car being sold for salvage. At best, it looks like the tram ride at the zoo.

That might be what a lot of potential customers say if the EV incentives go away, which is likely after last night.

Maybe not with his buddy Elon whispering sweet nothings in his ear.

I'm curious if the prices of new Toyota's will go up with these tariff proposals. 10% tariff on all US imports meaning a 4Runner imported from Japan with an MSRP of $55k would have $5,500 added to the price tag. Imports from Mexico were suggested to have a 25% tariff meaning a $40k Tacoma would have $10k added to the price tag.

Elon is going to head up a new agency called D.O.G.E. Department of Gov Efficiency.

He going to be right there by Donny's side. Stocks pumping today including Tesla which is up 15%.

EVs will probably get a fresh push next year.

But I think Toyota still looking really good with their hybrid approach instead of trying to go full EV as Ford and others have tried. But tariff thing could mess everything up of course.

Still don't like look of 6th gen though. :D

Crazy.... those price increases if passed onto the customer would destroy sales. Maybe Toyota could consider moving production back to San Antonio plant.

They are planning on expanding the San Antonio plant but even with all their US manufacturing plants, it would be impossible to absorb all the vehicles they import........4runner, Land Cruiser, Tacoma, Corolla, Rav4 prime, Camry hybrid, Prius, multiple Lexus models, ect......

The point is not to just pass on the tariffs to the American consumer. The manufacturer will need to eat the costs or move production to the US.

Yes. If they want to sell a lot of vehicles. Most people aren’t going to throw away thousands of dollars for nothing.

No way. If it costs them more to get a vehicle into the country, that cost gets passed along to the consumer. Corporations are not going to absorb those cost out of the goodness of their hearts. lol

This does the auto industry a yuuuuuge disservice......even the one's "built in America."

Think of how many parts are imported from Mexico or overseas for vehicles assembled in the USA.

Vehicle prices go up across the board.

Overpaying hasn't stopped the general public from buying cars for the past few years, why would they stop then?

Hell, some people even feel bad for the companies when their expenses and customer prices go up. I'll never understand that one.

Since the new administration has the highest tariffs (200%) on imports from Mexico, this could actually end up forcing Toyota's hand to continue making the 4Runner in Japan, which would be a silver lining in all this tariff / higher price speculation.

That's what happens when you let bureaucrats without engineering degrees who are not answerable to voters in charge of engineering things like automotive rules.

Even people on that side of the fence are not expecting that to happen. the tariff threat on mexico is a negotiation tool to make them a partner in stemming the economic migrant flow from central americans and people who fly to central america from all over the world.

The silver lining will be getting rid of the Feds corrupt ways and all of DC that's been taking generations of wealth from all of us.
We need production and quality back in the US, and Toyota would do well to expand upon that in the next 10 years, and bring that Japanese build quality with them.
On a side of a side bar: $70 - 100k for Toyota domestics, LCs and Lexus' new offerings? nah, there's much cooler shit out there.

I'll be more relieved when/if we can have the current mpg and emissions standards freeze in place for the time being. But I am sure California CARB and elements of the EPA bureaucracy will continue to fight tooth and nail to make ICE vehicles impossible to produce at all costs.

Note to people who haven't figured out why we can't have Hilux and Jimnys here, or why we can't have new production vehicles like the 5th gen 4runners anymore: it's CARB and EPA.

They can raise prices as high as they want. That doesn’t mean people will pay it. There’s only so many people willing to pay much more for a made in Japan 4Runner vs a made in the USA Passport or Pathfinder.

If I put myself in the shoes of a (yuck!) dealer and the 4Runner price goes up markedly, you can bet I’m going to try to get more for my Passports or Broncos on the lot.

That’s of course assuming parts for these hypothetical Passports and Broncos are not tariffed and MSRP didn’t go up. (Bronco base MSRP is up something like what, 25-30% since 21?)
