Fog Light issue

    I've had this 4Runner for about a week now and have managed to go through it fairly thoroughly. The only electrical issue I have found is my lights do not come on, but the dash indicator does. Thus I am assuming it's not a fuse issue but either wiring or lamp itself. Can anyone confirm this before I go pulling the front off and hunting down the problem?

    Access to the fog lights is usually easier through the fender liner. Start there and make sure they're plugged in. Passenger side has a cover over the fog that can be a pain. Don't fret if you just rip it off in a fit of rage. Lol. Watch a couple YouTube videos on fog light installs. That should help.

    I finally got some time to look into this further. What I can confirm is my 15 amp fuse is good and the fog lamps are indeed plugged in. Would a burnt out bulb on one side or the other cause both to go out? I'm not sure if they are wired in series or parallel.

    In the worst case scenario and I need to replace the wiring harness, any suggestions on sourcing replacement? Most of what I have seen doing a google search is for aftermarket lamps.

    Lastly, has anyone here had any experience in wiring into the fuse box to replace something like this? My thoughts on this is worst case, use a fuse tap and just run all new cable and move the 15 amp to the fuse tap slot.

    Just looking for suggestions and ideas on the best way to go about doing this, especially if I have to replace the harness.

    Did you check the fuse box in eng. bay?
    Did previous owner mod & have them on a push button to be able to use anytime?:notsure: on LH lower dash where there are empty slots is there a different button or switch?

    You could use a multi meter at the light and see if you have power. That's a good place to start. Also, what year is your 4runner?

    It's a 2019 TRD Offroad. Not the pro. I'm waiting to hear back from a neighbor to borrow his meter. I was planning to meter the wires and the bulbs.

    Nope. He didn't modify any of it.

    Only fuse info I was able to find is the 15 amp fuse under the dash. I did not see anything about a second fuse in the engine bay. I did open it up but there was nothing listed. All searches on google said under the dash.

    If you know the difference between a series and a parallel circuit then you deserve your own multimeter. A basic one will be fine. Lots of decent options under $30. Some really stellar big-name options in the $50 range.

    The nice Fluke 101 is available at "Bezos World" right now for just 45 bucks. A nice little meter, it is.

    A fluke for $45!!:hattip::yes: I have a Sperry & forget the other in my roll-away But always wanted my own Fluke!! Used them many of yrs W/Operations I worked for. I was spoiled by other models I didn't have to pay for :playball:

    I have a Simpson 260 in the roll top case with a set of original Simpson probes.

    You'll show your age, and your electrical chops if you know what that is...

    For simple things like a voltage check, a cheap $10 Harbor Freight one will work.
