When I first purchased my TRD Off road premium, I was able to get out of the vehicle with it running and lock it because my dog was inside. Two mos later and I can't lock it while it's running. Any ideas why it has changed? I'm wondering if I disabled that functionality somehow on the key fob.

Have you tried locking it with the door switch while the door is open and the engine is running? I lock my doors a lot that way, but not while the engine's running...

What I usually do is: (with doggies in the truck)

    1. Roll my driver window down.
    2. Exit my vehicle, and ensuring that my keys are in my pocket.
    3. Shut driver door.
    4. Hit lock switch to lock.
    5. Roll window up from out side.

When I come back to the vehicle, I use the little emergency key to unlock my driver door. Has worked for me everytime so far!

    Cheers,

    Sean

Interesting that you and apparently others were ever able to do this. My 4Runner nor my previous '18 Tacoma allowed it. Just assumed it was a 'feature' to prevent one from locking the keys in the car.

You can lock it with the physical key with the engine running. Eject the key from the fob to lock and unlock manually.

^^^^^^This is how I do it. I also MUST use the key to unlock...fob will not unlock. I usually don't leave him alone for long

Yes, usually I don't leave my two for long either, but I leave the engine running, with AC and them listening to music... I'm usually within viewing distance.

    Cheers,

    Sean
