    Hi Everyone,

The 21 4R I picked up a few days ago, it was supposed to come with two key fobs as promised by the dealer. Upon pick up they only had one FOB and the battery died on Sat. When I looked at the manual it's said a CR1632 battery but dealer is saying 2032. I ended up going to my local dealer (not the Yoda dealer that I originally bought the 4R from as it's too far) The local dealer when they replaced the battery that it's a CR2032 but manual says 1632 and the 2032 looks too big for the fob case? Thought I'd ask the experts on here?

Thanks in advance for your help.

For my 2019 it's CR1632 and my 2021 needs CR2032. I would replace with which ever battery already in.

You went to the dealer? The grocery store sells these.

Yep - their issue - I was specifically promised two key fobs on delivery of the car - oopsie - at the last minute they told me they only have one - the one they gave me literally died the very next day - why should I go to a grocery store when it's the dealer's issue for not having their s*** together before taking delivery of the car (other examples - they were supposed to delete all the previous owners phone data and didn't). The manual and the dealer(s) are saying two different batteries - so why would I buy batteries when I don't know which one?

Thanks for the help - dealer is saying 2032 - '21 manual says 1632 - this is not rocket science but it seems some Yota dealers don't know their own products????

Most if not all dealers have a lot of staff that don’t know their product. I also wouldn’t trust any dealer to have done what they said they’ve done. Everything that’s important to you should be verified by you. I’d still let them know if I found something later on that they missed and try to get something in compensation if it’s a bigger deal. But just don't miss the important stuff on your inspection before you take delivery.

Your time is probably better spent getting the dealer to get you that second fob instead of worrying about the battery. Nobody at the dealer is putting the original battery on a multimeter to guarantee it will work tomorrow. You can easily open the fob to verify the battery.

You need to get dealer to provide the key.
    Thru Toyota they are expensive.
Time to get a fresh piece of paper and a pen. Write down everything said about 2 keys. Who said it, where you both were (in an office, showroom or lot). Note names and time of day and calendar date. List any witnesses to conversation on your side.
In short make a nice memoralized legal statement.
If necessary argue with the manager. Threaten to take it to Toyota factory rep. Do not leave without a "Due Bill" listing the key or a key itself.

Naw, all that was suggested is simply making it clear to them that they owe you the key fob (400 bucks by my guess), by reminding them why they owe you the key fob.

The cells are the same footprint but different depths, the spring part can take up the slack for a slimmer cell but also accommodate a larger one as long as it isn’t too bit for the mounting tabs.

I just replaced the battery in my 2021 4Runner key fob with a 2032. That was what was in it.

Looks like it's a 2032 - this will be double confirmed when I get the 2nd FOB - I asked them when they swap out the battery to note what it is. Thx again for all the helpful advice.
