What size lift do I have ?

Hey guys bought a 2016 4Runner today and noticed it has a lift kit installed on it already, I was able to see it’s an old man emu kit and saw the strut was a 90010 , does that help identify the height ? Also the tires are 285/70/17 and they seem to rub the front bumper a bit when reversing with the wheel cut . Thanks !

Front valance painted white. That's unique. Nice touch. Front logo black now.

Bumper slightly cut? to fit the tires. I'm curious if they changed the upper control arm.

The tires look like the stick outside of the fenders. I wonder if there are wheel spacers, which would make the rubbing worse.

 

I’m not sure old man emu makes a leveling kit , I’ll take some pics today and post them in here . I was looking for a brand name or anything on the upper control arms and wasn’t able to tell but this was also at night time so maybe there is.

 

that’s a good point I’ll look today , I figured it was just too large of a tire for the current lift kit on the car

 

That’s an SR5. It doesn’t have a valence. Just the bumper cover

 

Measure hub center to fender on all 4 corners and that would give you a general idea of how tall the lift is

 

So I did that last night actually and front end was 22 1/4 and the back was 24 1/2 . But I’m not sure what stock height is to determine the lift I’ve seen different answers online

 

I have the measurements on both of ours stock. 19.75” & 20” on the front. 21.75” to 22.25” (varies) on the rear. Seems like you have a 2” - 2.5” lift

 

That’s what I was thinking but I know that sometimes the lifts can settke and this lift has been on the car for I believe 55k miles so I figured maybe it’s a 3 inch kit but wasn’t sure

 

This is the front of the car I believe these are the UCA’s. They look stock to me

 

Those are stock UCA's from the looks. Is there a little tag on any of the springs (front or rear)? If there is it tells you what spring is on there. Some people take them off.

 

Will the spring answer what the lift size is? Probably a dumb question but I’m new to lifted vehicles

 

That looks like a solid +3" in the front and +1.5" in the rear all day long, thats not a leveling kit, thats basically a maxed out on stock suspension setup.
It also looks like it has wheel spacers, which would make it rub on fender where the mud flap goes and on the inner fender well close to the fog light pretty bad if i had to guess.

 

Do the front tires look like they are straight up and down when looking at them from the front? I'm surprised is has stock UCA's.

Similar angle of my car. 3 inch icon springs in the rear. Tried to match about the stock rake; so about 3 inch lift up front.

 

You were correct on the wheel spacers ! I just checked and there’s some blue spacer in between the wheel and hub , the front tires are also wearing pretty bad on the outer portion of the tread and at around 50-60 mph the steering starts to shake a good amount , do you think it needs an alignment or something else

 

I’ll have to go outside and re check on if the front tires are straight or canted but judging by your picture it seems to me like we’re very similar height , maybe my lift is a 3” as well ?

 

I had bad, uneven wear on the inside of my front tires and cupping after getting a lift kit installed. Had the alignment done and it's perfect now. Whoever owned it before you was just a moron like me...always get an alignment done after a lift. Lesson learned.

 

Lmaoo I hope your right only thing is, is that the lift was installed at 65k miles and the trucks now at 115k miles , according to carfax it claims it had alignment right after the lift kit was installed but there’s no record of an alignment after that

 

I went outside and in person it looks like maybe the tires can’t outward to where they would wear on the outer portion of the tread but maybe it’s my eyes playing tricks on me .

 

It has the wrong steps bar brackets on it too. Those bars are supposed to be tucked up to the bottom.

The 90010 is the OME Nitrocharged Sport strut. I think the lift depends on which OME Spring is installed.

It can be a 2.5 or 3 inch lift spring.

Would it be expensive to put the 3” springs on it or would a 1” body lift be cheaper for a little extra lift

 

If you go any higher than you already are, you will almost certainly need new upper control arms.

The problem with body lifts is they introduce new issues with brake lines, shifter and steering linkages, etc.

It looks pretty good as it sits, considering those are 285 tires. I'd get it aligned, then drive it for a while to enjoy it as is.

 

Thanks for the advice ! Issue is the tires are kind of shot so I was wanting to go with 35’s since I need new ones anyways and I kind of figured I wouldn’t be able to fit a 35 under that height

 

This subject has been discussed for years - lift height will not clear bigger tires as it does on solid front axle vehicles. IFS (front suspension) doesn't work that way. What clears 35" tires is correct wheel offset, aftermarket upper control arms, and proper modifications to the wheel well, i.e. fenders, mud flaps, bumper, and most certainly body mount chop if going with 35" tires. All that to say for 35" tires, the cost of the tires and a taller lift are only the beginning of the spending needed to fit them. Not to mention the performance drop from that size tire.

 

Well I wasn’t aware of all of that so thank you! I have seen guys here run 285/75/17’s which to my knowledge is essentially a 34” . Are those something I could fit in current form with some upgraded UCA’s? Just trying to know what I can order .
