The lock was fine until it suddenly stopped working. I am unable to open my drivers side door. It was sticky with the fob before, but the manual locks and electric lock worked fine.

The button can move up and down freely, but doesn't seem to engage anything. I opened up the panel for a better look, but I'm more confused. I thought manipulating the rods keeping the door in the locked position would help, but I can't seem to move them much.

I did find a piece that seems to have come off the lock actuator. It's a small rubber piece that I've highlighted in one of my attached photos. I'm struggling to find information about installing the actuator, so I'm not sure what the does or what it should be connected to.

You should be able to pop that little pink clip off that rod and manipulate the door lock.

I will go try that. Any ideas as to what might be causing this?

Probably just age. If you can manipulate it manually, remove the actuator and see how the lock cylinder feels. If it's good you probably need an actuator.

I tried popping out the pin but I'm not sure how to do it in a way that won't simply break the clip. It won't hardly budge.

How does one tell if a lock cylinder feels good?

Mostly feeling if it moves freely. You should be able to just remove the actuator if the clip won't budge and it's been a while since I've been in the door of a third gen so that may be the design.

so I did manage to get the clip off, but I still can't move anything that will get the lock open. Does that sound like the cylinder?

Like you can't actuate the rod? They're usually a bit stiff but you should be able to move it up and down to at least disengage the lock and get the door open. If it won't budge the lock/latch assembly in might be jammed up.

The rod connected to the lock only moved once I unclipped it. The electric buttons now easily move both pins. So I'm definitely thinking it's the lock cylinder now.
